Passed away peacefully at 5:15pm on July 1, 2010 at the age of 69 years. Born in Victoria on April 22, 1941 to George & Jennet Lane. Predeceased by her first husband Victor Edward Foster in 1978. Survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Keith Kupitz. Lovingly remembered by her sons Malcolm (Judy) & Allan (Wendy) Foster and step-children Carol (David) MacEachern & Gary Kupitz. Grandchildren Sarah, Brandon, Briana, & Erik.

Virginia devoted 38 years to the RCMP, which allowed her to keep close tabs on her kids! She had a heart of gold and a laugh that filled the room. She leaves a hole in our lives that won’t ever be filled.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2010 between 1 & 4 pm at the Metchosin Fire Hall at 4440 Happy Valley Road. Private interment to take place at Royal Oak Burial Park at a later date.

    Keith and family,
We were so sorry to hear of the loss of Virginia. She always had a smile on her face. She was so great when she looked after my kids and my dogs when we went away. I have never known someone who was such an animal lover and put others first. We will miss her. There is a special place in heaven for her. Thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Virginia both at Colwood Detachment in the 80s and Victoria SubDivision in the 90s. She was always so bright and cheerful and always had a smile on that lovely face. She had an infectious happy way about her – it was a pleasure to be around Virginia. I always enjoyed our Christmas luncheons with all the “old girls” from Colwood – it was a great way to keep in touch and it was Virginia that organized these get togethers for many years. A group of us had lunch with Virginia just a few weeks ago and we are all so thankful we had the opportunity to spend time with her. Although she was very ill at the time, but typical Virginia, there were no complaints from her!

My thoughts are with her family at this time. Her family was the most important part of her life and I know she will be missed by all who knew her.

    Sincerely,

    Lynn Baber

    To Keith,Malcolm,and Alan.

Our deepest sympathy to you and the rest of your family. We’ve known Virginnia when we joined Metchosin Pony Club many years ago. Virginnia is one of those people that touches your life in the most giving, graceful, and you will never forget them. Virginnia is an amazing woman who has succeeded in all areas of her life. She was always a fighter, with much humour and laughter. She also was a good mentor. We will all miss her deeply. Kelly,Garth, and Family.

I am so sorry to hear of Virginia’s passing. I worked with her at the RCMP and have very fond memories of her, especially all the fun we had during our coffee breaks!

She was a dear lady who will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew her.

  • Stan and Joyce Bell

Virginia brightened up a room as soon as she walked in. Stan and I knew her mostly from the fire department social events but myself I got to know her better from the coffee parties the retired firemen’s wives enjoy every other month. The second to last one we had she arrived late because she was trying to find daffodils (for the cancer cause) to bring to each one of us and most stores were sold out but she finally found some to give each of us at the party a small boquet and joking all the time. She is an inspiration to all who had the privilage of knowing her. The family has lost a “bright light” but that light will keep shining in all your thoughts and her laughter will echo through your hearts.

I/we will miss Virginia at our “View Royal (Retired) Ladies Coffee

that we knew her and her sense of humor lit up our parties. Jack knew Keith when they were members of the View Royal Fire Dept.
Our sympathies go to Keith and his family.

My thoughts are with all of the family. Virginia was my very first supervisor back in 1967 at the RCMP. She was such a great lady and she was the one that taught me to have a good work ethic. Because of her I was able to move on and upward and I appreciate everything she did for me. I will always remember her great smile with lasting fondness. Syl

    To Keith and family
Bernie and I were so saddened when you told us of Virginia’s passing. We have been nextdoor neighbours and friends for many years and we will miss her a lot. I will miss our ‘heart-to-hearts’ and our hearty laughs especially over the dogs! While I am typing this Bailey has arrived for her nightly cookie and pat and I just bet you know that Virginia. You are in our thoughts.

  • Vicki, Carol and Sherri Foster

So sad to hear of Virginia’s passing. She worked with our Father, Ted Foster, at the Colwood RCMP detachment in the 1970’s. They maintained their friendship over the years, and he always referred to her as “Cousin Virginia”! We have fond memories of both riding horses and swiming at Virginia’s house in Metchosin growing up.
May you feel surrounded by love at this difficult time.
