Passed away peacefully on May 22, 2010. Born in Victoria, BC on November 30, 1912. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Dot) in 2007. Lovingly remembered by his sons Gerry (Elesa), Dave (Maureen); step-sister Gwen and brother-in-law George (Marion) along with many other family and friends.

Wally left home at an early age; his first job was delivering groceries around streets of Victoria by bicycle. He went on to work cutting cordwood and in the stoveworks during the Depression. He also worked at the Wilkinson Road Institution, now the Wilkinson Road Jail. He moved to the Cowichan Valley in the 40’s working at the Honeymoon Bay Sawmill and for Garner Construction. Wally met and married Dot in Duncan and moved to Victoria in the 50’s where they raised their two sons. He went to work for the Dockyard as an Electrician; he worked there for 25 years until his retirement in 1976. His interests were many ranging from hunting and fishing, in his early years, travelling, camping, cards and gardening. He was a constant gardener and shared this love with his sons, he was also a member of the Victoria Lapidary & Mineral Society and the Faceters Guild. Wally will be remembered as a kind and gentle person. He will be forever missed, but carried with us all in our hearts forever. Heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses at the Central Care Home for his excellent care during the last four months.

A Memorial Service will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #107-1001 Cloverdale Avenue, Victoria, BC V8X 4C9.
