Walter was a quiet but thoughtful man who cared about the earth he walked upon. I knew him from life on Fraser Street and the constant battle to remove ivy from the embattled fir trees in Saxe Point Park – Walter’s backyard.

I would like to extend my condolences to Walter’s family. He was a very special man and will be sorely missed. As a member of the Photography Club, Walter has left us with many memorable moments. I never fail to think of him when I hear Louis Armstrong sing “It’s a Wonderful World” or “If I were Rich Man”–these were the sounds of his slide essays that created a permanent association in all our minds..And of course, to me, he will always be “Uncle Walter”, who slipped out at night and went “Waltzing with Bears!” He was such a good sport and we had so much fun filming that–it was the best of times….a very sweet, gentle, man.
