August 30, 1953 – June 30, 2008

Passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on June 30, 2008. Wendy was born in Summerside, P.E.I. and is the daughter of the late Bert and Wanda Hunter; a proud mother to her son, Marc Hunter, Victoria, BC and best friend and sister to Betty Hunter, Barb Hunter and Carol Mann, all of Summerside, P.E.I. and Marilyn Peck (Graham) of Charlottetown, P.E.I. Wendy was also a loving aunt to Chad (Julie) and Ryan Mann, Kelly and Ashley Peck and Hannah and Chloe Hunter and a very special “auntie” to Kayden. Wendy made her home in Victoria, B.C. where she pursued her career as a compassionate and well respected teacher and Vice Principal at James Bay Community School. Wendy was known as a trusted leader within her profession with a special passion for literacy. Although her journey was filled with many challenges, she continued to amaze everyone with her dedication and passion for life which will continue to flourish through the eyes of her students, the flowers in her garden and in the hearts and souls of her friends and family. We wish to thank Dr. Allan and staff at the BC Cancer Clinic, Dr. Monica McNeill and the staff of the Oncology Unit at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. and Hospice Unit at the Jubilee. Also a big thanks to all Wendy’s colleagues and friends for their amazing and continued support.

A Celebration of her life will be held at MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, Victoria, BC on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Victoria Hospice, BC Cancer Agency of Vancouver Island, 2410 Lee Avenue, Victoria, BC V8R 6V5 or a charity of your choice.
