Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Bill passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023 in Victoria, BC with his family at his side. Predeceased by his parents Phyllis and Alfred Greaves and sister Penny.  He is survived by his loving wife Donna; daughter Cassie and her children Tyler, Ashley; son Dan (Suzanne) and their children Charlotte, Marcus, Ella, James; brother Gordon (Lynda); sisters-in-law Carol, Gail, Janice; brother-in-law Terry (Stephanie) MacDonald and nieces and nephews.

Bill grew up in Winnipeg and moved to Victoria in 1969.  He was proud to serve with the PPCLI for seven years.  He was then employed by BC Tel (Telus) until retirement.  Following his retirement he joined the Commissionaires, his last position at City Hall.

He loved playing and watching sports, golf, hockey and football, some of his favourites.  An avid fan of the Detroit Redwings and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  He also enjoyed music, movies, his precious cats, the outdoors, holidays in Parksville and trips to Courtenay.  Bill’s greatest love was for his family.  He was an amazing husband, dad and grandpa and will be so very missed.

Bill’s easy-going disposition and keen sense of humour helped him to live with early onset dementia for the past seven years.

The family would like to thank Drs. R. McKay, M. Ward, H. Domke, C. Chew and the doctors and staff at RJH and Gorge Rd. Hospital for their care.  Special thanks to the staff at Aberdeen Hospital (Bill’s home for the past 2 years) for their excellent care and kindness.

Donations, if desired may be made to the Eldercare Foundation, Victoria or a charity of choice.

A private Memorial Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens.

Bill was Commissionaire while I worked at the City of Victoria. He was a friendly and kind man who was easy to talk to and always had a story to tell, but he was good at his job and could always be relied on. I enjoyed working with Bill and missed him after he left; it was great to bump into him once in a while and get the big smile and friendly greeting. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss.
