October 22, 1947 ~ January 25, 2010

Bill was born in Victoria, BC on October 22, 1947 to Fred and Ella Switzer. A resident of Victoria all his life, he had a disciplined work ethic, always ensuring that he was able to provide for himself, for his children, and for their future. Through the years, Bill worked for JC Switzer’s, and Capital Freightways. He was also an entrepreneur, a business investor, a property manager, and he worked in his landscaping business until his health demanded he retire and try his hand as a brew master at Thetis Springs U-Brew.
Known to many as Mr. Bill, he loved the warm beaches of Mexico, seafood and a cold beer. He enjoyed working with his hands as an artist, gardener, woodworker, fisherman and hobby brewer.
Dad always held an open mind, heart, and home. He lived simply, loved deeply, and listened well. He was a man with the unique inner strength required to master the difficult moments in life, and to assist others in mastering theirs.
Missing him dearly, are those who knew him as a Brother; Carole, (Norm), Bob, Paul, (Judy), Sheila, (Nathan); as a Father; Jenni, Lacy, (Kinh), Paula, (Michael), and Joel; and as s a Papa; 8 beautiful grandchildren. Also missing him are his uncle Alan, (Evelyn); and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours who were touched by his generosity and kindness.
Our family would like to thank Dr Connolly and the many staff in the RJH Emergency, and Respiratory Inpatient Unit for the assistance and compassion that you showed Bill and us.
A memorial service will be held at the North Jubilee Spirit Garden at 1771 Newton St at 1 pm Saturday, February 27th, with memory sharing to follow at Bill’s home.
It is with immense pride, love, and deep sadness that we say goodbye to our devoted father, respected brother and sincere, genuine friend. We are honoured to have been loved by Bill Switzer, a gentle, hardworking, generous, honest man. We will hold him in our hearts and minds forever.
