Passed away peacefully on September 24, 2008. Born February 10, 1922 at High River Alberta.
Predeceased by his first wife, Audrey in 1979 and his second wife, Laura in 1999;children, William Jeffrey (Maria) of Fort Worth, and John Scott of Ottawa; grandchildren, Dillon and Dionne of Fort Worth and Reneé of Pellenville, New York and Dustin of Reno; great-grandchildren, Sterling, David, Torrin and Stella. Also survived by his brother, Dr. Robert Perry (Pat) of Calgary and nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends. Bill served in WWII from 1939-45 with the RCNVR in both the Atlantic and the Pacific and left the service as a Petty Officer Telegraphist.On discharge from the navy, he entered Sir George Williams College (Concordia) where he majored in Marketing and then joined National Business Publications of Montreal. He also edited and published the periodical Canadian Football Illustrated. Leaving Canada in 1959, he joined Associated Publishers of Dallas Texas and became senior vice president of Drilling Magazine, the oilfield publication.
Bill was a musician of note and played with the Dallas Cowboy’s Band for several years. He also had his own orchestra playing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
He retired in 1988 to Canada where he became associated with the Chief and Petty Officers’ Association as a member of the executive and editor of their house organ, The Bulletin. He also wrote his memoirs, The Lower Deck, book of his wartime experiences. He retired from the Association as a life member in 1999 as its editor emeritus of the Bulletin.
Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Fort Worth and a Shriner with Moslah, Hella and Gizeh Temples. He was also a member of Lions International, The Oilfield Technical Society of Calgary and the Football Writers Association of America.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Christ The Redeemer Chapel/St. Andrews Chapel, Building N35, Naden on Admirals Road, Victoria. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Victoria S.P.C.A. Society.

Bill was a person that a leader of business and events- A talented trumpet player with leading orchestras/bands of international recognition. He loved to be part of the action in business and also golf.
Sure miss Bill as many others he connected with Bill in the Oil Industry in Texas.
