It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our husband and father, William Robert (Bob) Thompson, born January 21, 1947. He passed away peacefully December 16, 2017 in the presence of the loving family he cherished. Bob was a devoted husband of 48 years to Glenys and father to Tracey (Chris Vincent), Maegan (Dana Johnson) and Robyn (Tyler) Scarlett and papa to Thompson, Evelyn, Evan, Linden and Genevieve. Bob is survived by his mother, Marjorie Thompson; sister, Judith Collins and sister-in-law, Judith Morris (Robert Delury).
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Bob had a 30-year career with Massey Ferguson. This lead the family across the prairie provinces with many stops in tiny towns and hamlets. Bob established lifelong friends through his work and the family enjoyed many vacations and special times nurturing those relationships.
Bob was an amazing provider and had a vison for his family and was their greatest supporter. To be in Bob’s inner circle was to know unwavering loyalty. He was compassionate, kind and always looked for ways to support others.
Upon retirement to Victoria, Bob embarked on his second career as papa. He provided years of care for Thommy and Evie surrounding them with love and support just as he did his children. He delighted in frequent visits with Evan, Linden and Vivi and daily calls from Robyn.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the caring, compassionate and professional staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital ICU and 8 North.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017, 2 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Victoria.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Victoria Dandelion Society.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Julie Irving So shocked and saddened for your loss of this truly wonderful, kind, and gentle man, always with that heartwarming smile. We first met Bob in the Cordova Bay preschool years, and we knew at first sight with Evie and Thommy that he was something very special. We always loved seeing Bob and Glenys at the many Hanover festivities and gatherings.
Bob leaves this world having made it a better place for all who were lucky to know him. Our thoughts are with all of you and we know your memories with him are to cherish and will keep him with you forever.
With love from Julie, Mark, Ben, and Maya

Russ and Paulette We are so deeply saddened to hear of your profound loss. A devoted Papa and family man is what we so fondly remember about Bob. He has a wonderful legacy via one of the most beautiful families we’ve come to know and be connected with over these past few years. May your cherished memories continue to comfort and strengthen you as you continue to progress through this most difficult time. We find the hope for the future as described in the Bible at John 5:28,29 for a resurrection of life to be a very comforting thought for all of us to share. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you.
