Cynthia Karen Borch

The family of Cynthia Karen Borch announces her sudden passing with deep sadness.

She is survived by her children, Nelson, Curtis, and Samantha Chapman; her beloved grandson Sawyer; her cherished sister Lisa (Tim); her brothers, Graham (Linda), Nelson (Liz), and Michael (Andrea); her parents Vince and Carol; and many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and friends.  All mourn the loss of her.

Cynthia’s life was filled with passion and accomplishment.  As an adult she furthered her education with a diploma from Okanagan University College, established a successful career with the Canada Revenue Agency, and completed the Kelowna Marathon.  Throughout all these activities she provided, maintained, and renovated a home while raising three children as a single mom.  Her intensely competitive spirit in sports and games was balanced by her ready laughter and her joy in life and music.

Cynthia will be remembered for her loving and affectionate heart, being quick to hug, and for improving everything and everyone she touched.

A Memorial Service and Reception for Cynthia will be held at McCall’s Downtown, 1400 Vancouver St., Victoria, B.C., Saturday, January 18th, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.

  2. Reading through the many comments I can see once again why I was drawn into a friendship with Cynthia for a season. We were good friends through high school and then again for a season while she was living in Kelowna. I lost touch with her – but at different times she would be in my thoughts and prayers. Praying today for you as a family as you grieve her loss.

    One of my memories of Cynthia was a time when we went to her home over our lunch break at school and we sang and wrote a worship song together.
    The words came from Ps 73:23,24

    Nevertheless I am continually with You;
    You have taken hold of my right hand.

    With Your counsel You will guide me,
    And afterward receive me to glory

    Looking forward to seeing you in glory one day Cynthia!!

  3. So sorry to hear of Cynthia’s passing. My thoughts are with you all.

  4. I offer you all my deepest sympathy on the loss of Cynthia, – a mother, daughter, grandmother, aunt – she was so proud of all her family and excited to share the latest pictures and stories of all the achievements her extended family had accomplished.
    Cynthia was a great teammate, always willing to help and to teach, a great personal friend, willing to listen, and caring about whatever was happening in other people’s lives.I will always be grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her and get to know her as a friend. I do, and will continue to miss her – the memories of the time we did have together will always be there.
    I pray for all of you all that with God’s grace you will find peace in time. Gone much too soon, but certainly not forgotten.

  7. Vince and Carol, Nelson, Curtis and Samantha, and all the rest of the family. Our very sincere condolences in the loss of a 2nd cousin who I only met once, but was very impressed with and wanted to know better. Thanks to the internet, we did communicate a few times, but not nearly enough. My heart breaks thinking of the pain you must be feeling at this time. Love and prayers to all of you.
    Bente, Dalton and family.
