The family of Cynthia Karen Borch announces her sudden passing with deep sadness.
She is survived by her children, Nelson, Curtis, and Samantha Chapman; her beloved grandson Sawyer; her cherished sister Lisa (Tim); her brothers, Graham (Linda), Nelson (Liz), and Michael (Andrea); her parents Vince and Carol; and many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and friends. All mourn the loss of her.
Cynthia’s life was filled with passion and accomplishment. As an adult she furthered her education with a diploma from Okanagan University College, established a successful career with the Canada Revenue Agency, and completed the Kelowna Marathon. Throughout all these activities she provided, maintained, and renovated a home while raising three children as a single mom. Her intensely competitive spirit in sports and games was balanced by her ready laughter and her joy in life and music.
Cynthia will be remembered for her loving and affectionate heart, being quick to hug, and for improving everything and everyone she touched.
A Memorial Service and Reception for Cynthia will be held at McCall’s Downtown, 1400 Vancouver St., Victoria, B.C., Saturday, January 18th, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.

To the family of Cynthia;
I would like to pass on my sincere condolences on the loss of dear Cynthia. She was such a kind, and sweet soul. We shared many talks of her precious grandson and how proud she was of her children. I will miss her warm smile and positve outlook.
To all the Borch’s, Chapman’s and extended family.
Linda and I are so deeply saddened by your loss.
The Cynthia that we knew was a great lady, and from all accounts continued to be that and a whole lot more.
I just saw a picture of her and felt like she hadn’t changed a bit and that the life we shared in our teens was only a moment away.
Thinking about her, the memories flooded in both fond and warm. Some of my best memories as a teenager and young adult were centred around the Borch home on Laurier in Port Coquitlam.
Later they took a more concentrated focus with Graham and Cynthia as Linda an I spent a lot of time together with them in rehearsing and performing. What a great moment in life.
Two of the funniest moments with Cynthia were with Tom Borle’ on the bridge in between Kaslo and Nelson and one late night at her bedroom window.
Tom was on her right, I was on her left and Cynthia was in the middle. We were watching the water crash down under the bridge, it must have been spring runoff. We were all leaning over the rails and watching the water fall away down the cliff from us. Tom and I looked at each other and at the same time picked up Cynthia’s legs and pivoted her so that she was level with the rail. She screamed, thinking she was going over, we howled and eventually let her down, she windmilled and walloped me right in the stomach totally winding me. Lesson learned, “Don’t mess with Cynthia.”
The other time was one night after making a late run dropping off everyone from youth. I dropped Cynthia last, drove away and remembered there was something important that I had to tell her. This was in the day before cell phones and so I came back to the house. I knew her room was on the side and so I went to her window and called, “Cynthia,” definitely but quietly. “Cynthia, Cynthia.” There was a long pause and a scarred and whispered, “Whaaat?” I told her it was me. Her comment was, “Oh Phil, it’s just you.” Knowing the story of Samuel’s call in the Bible, I read between the lines and knew what she was thinking. “You thought God was talking to you.” She was embarrassed and I howled. What a huge disappointment for her. Lesson learned? “I need to have a simple huge faith like Cynthia.”
A lot of water has gone under that bridge as well as a few others that we have all stood on. Today, we are reflecting, reminiscing, and missing a great lady, sister, daughter, friend who had a simple and sincere faith. I know that today, all her troubles, misunderstandings, misgivings and questionings have perspective and answers. Cynthia is with our Lord.
God Bless her family, if they are anything like their mom and grandma, they are amazing.
God Bless, Graham, Nelson and Michael, Lisa, Carol and Vince. What a treasure you brought to this world and helped form. We are better people because of Cynthia in our lives. Our prayers are with you all.

Cynthia was dynamic. Her ability to tackle life as she did sports is what I remember most about her. Cynthia had a beautiful singing voice, as well. She will be missed. God Bless everyone who knew and loved her. May the great memories of her life be dear to your hearts as the days and years go by.
We are so sad and shocked to hear of Cynthia’s passing. What a privilege to known her for over 40 years and see what a beautiful woman she was.

My Thoughts and Prayers
It doesn’t seem possible that such a strong person is gone! She was an amazing person who was always so positive, upbeat, and real. She told it like it was, no fooling around. She was a good friend and our time at CRA was more entertaining with her around. I cherish the time we had with her, she made work fun. In many ways she was our cheerleader, always trying to organize an evening out with the girls. My fondest memories of Cynthia are our get togethers with the office gals at our condo at Big White. We had such a good time.
My thoughts and prayers are with her children, grand-child, and the rest of family. May God’s grace be with you and help ease your sorrow. It is difficult to lose a mom but remember that her spirit will be with you every step of the way. God bless! – Rosann
We are deeply sorry for the sudden and unexpected loss of Cynthia. She recognized me (Leslie) in a parking lot in Victoria a few years ago. We were just beginning to renew our acquaintance and past friendship. We are shocked and saddened by this loss and deeply disappointed that we could not continue to forge our renewed friendship with her. My heart goes out to Samantha who I was so privileged to meet before and after little Sawyer came along.

Cynthia was more like a sister to us than a cousin. Our families shared so many meals and holidays together. She was always there for us and would do anything for her friends and family. We will deeply miss her good sense of humor, her slightly competitive nature, whenever we played cards or board games. We love you Cynthia and we will keep you close in our hearts forever.
Carol and Vince. Please accept my most heart felt condolences on the passing of your daughter. My thoughts will be with you in the trying days ahead. God bless. Doreen
