It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ferrarelli, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, on January 2, 2026, at the age of 71, with family by her side at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Mary leaves behind a large family and many friends that will miss her dearly. Loving wife for 53 years to Frank Ferrarelli. Cherished mother to Rosalina Munro (Michael), and Domenic Ferrarelli (Lisa). Devoted Nonna to Carter and Massimo Munro, and Chela and Amara Ferrarelli. Caring sister to John Alessio. Mary is predeceased by her parents Domenico and Caterina Alessio, and by her brothers Andy and Dick Alessio.
Mary was selfless. She was always helping and thinking of others. She loved cooking and baking and sharing with everyone. She loved exploring and travelling to new places with Frank, and was always planning their next adventures. Most of all, Mary loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself. She fought her battle for them. She loved to bake with the girls and attended as many sporting events as possible for the boys. She was always their loudest cheerleader. Mary was also a loyal friend. She had a large circle of amazing friends with whom she faithfully kept in touch and always looked forward to seeing.
Our family would like to extend very heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Oncology and Palliative ward at RJH, who provided such compassion during a difficult time. We would also like to thank Dr. J.P. McGhie and René Korchinski, NP for their attentive care, kindness, and dedication over the past 4 years while she fiercely battled cancer.
A Visitation & Vigil for Mary will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held the following morning, Wednesday, January 7th, 2026 at 11:00am from St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Parish, 753 Burnside Road, Victoria, BC, with Fr. Alfredo Monacelli, Celebrant. Entombment will follow this service in the Royal Oak Burial Park Mausoleum, 4673 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.
Following the entombment, please join the family for a Reception in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, located next door to the burial park at 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BC Cancer Foundation.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Frank and Sylvia Marasco Dear Frank and Family,
There are no words that feel big enough to express how deeply sorry we are for your loss. Our hearts are aching with you, and it is incredibly painful for us to know that we cannot be there to hold your hands, embrace you, and say goodbye to Mary in person as we would want to.
Mary was so deeply loved, and she always will be. She had a beautiful way of making people feel comforted simply by being herself. Her warmth, her kindness, her gentle spirit, and her love for family were felt by everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. She leaves behind memories that will live forever in our hearts — memories filled with love, laughter, and quiet moments that meant everything.
Being out of the country makes this loss feel even heavier, knowing we cannot gather with you to honor her life. Please know that we are grieving with you from afar, lighting candles in our hearts, praying for Mary’s peace, and asking God to surround all of you with strength, comfort, and love during this unimaginable time.
Mary’s love does not end here. It lives on in each of you, in every story shared, every tear shed, and every smile that comes from remembering her. We hope you feel her presence near, guiding you, comforting you, and reminding you that you are never alone.
We are sending you all our love, our deepest sympathy, and the warmest embrace from miles away. May you feel surrounded by peace, and may Mary rest in eternal love.
With all our love and sorrow
Frank and Sylvia Marasco
