to the family, I apologize for this note being so late. I adored Dr. Horton as he was the caring and compassionate Dr. for me and 200 other student nurses at the Jubilee. I trained there from 1971-1974 and have so many fond memories of how calmly he looked after all of us young women given the many ups and downs we faced as we learned to become skilled and dedicated caregivers ourselves. He was a role model for kindness and patience and gave us great medical care, of course. I met one of the sons (cannot remember the name) when I was teaching a program at UVIC for the BC Government called Leading the Way, and we had such a great chat about your father! Thanks for sharing your Dad with the student nurses over all those years, Cathy McKenzie (Rapanos)
Dr. Horton was a wonderful, kind, caring man. He became our physician when we moved from Saskatoon to Victoria in 1964 and delivered our twin boys in 1968. We were sorry to lose him when he gave up his practice. His generous spirit, gentle demeanour, open mind and quiet humour made him the true gentleman he was. My family join me in extending to you our sincere sympathy to you all.

I have always had the most profound respect and admiration for Dr. Don and Margaret Horton. Their gracious example and testimony will remain with me always. My heartfelt sympathy is extended to the family at this time of great loss. May you know God’s comfort and peace as you celebrate Dr. Don’s wonderful life today.
To Dawn, Phil and the girls. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We have very pleasant memories of both your parents. We so enjoyed working with your Dad, Dawn, on the OMF committee for several years.
We know there is a big hole in your lives just now but we are so glad your Dad did not have to wait too long to join his beloved.
To Dawn and Girls, I am so very very sorry for your loss and you are always in my thoughts. I will miss your dad/ grandfather. To the rest of the family, I send my condolences to you all.
Joan and I wish to express our condolences to all the family on the passing of a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Although we know he is in a much better place, the separation is difficult, and our thoughts and prayers are with you. He was a kind, gentle man who used his skills in so many areas to help literally thousands of people.

Dear family,
Dr. Horton impressed me deeply as a young man. Along with many others, he inspired me to go beyond my comfort zone to follow Jesus. Don was a gift that never stopped giving.
Be blessed and comforted by your many memories of this lovely man.
What fond memories we have of Don – at our Red Sea Mission Team Board meetings – he was such a wise person and after discussion he always reminded us that our first priority was to pray! He was a great example to us all and was greatly missed when he felt it time to step down from the board, Our prayers are with you all – we know you will miss Him but know too that He is now rejoicing with His Lord and Saviour – free of all earthly pain and care.
Dear Russ, Betty, Heather, Dawn & families:
My thoughts & prayers are with you. I know your father was well-loved and well-respected by all of you and by the communities that knew him. I liked your dad’s quick smile and his warm sense of humor. I enjoyed meeting your parents when they came to Edmonton and remember feeling quite comfortable in their presence. I know your Dad (and your Mom) will be greatly missed and very lovingly remembered. I imagine there was quite a homecoming on April 29th.
