ADA LOUISE MORBEY

Ada Louise Morbey, aged 93, died peacefully in her sleep at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Extended Care Unit on Friday, July 27, 2007 having spent a little over a year under the excellent care of dedicated staff. Ada was born in Victoria, August 14, 1913 of a pioneering family to the late Leon and Edith Borde. She attended George Jay Elementary School and graduated from Victoria High School. She worked in the advertising department of the Hudson’s Bay Company until her marriage to Albert Edward Macdonald Morbey in August 1937. Ada and Edward spent 66 years together making homes in Victoria, Langford, Halifax and Ottawa before returning to their beloved Island to take up residence in North Saanich. Together they raised five boys . In their retirement they built the sailing boat “Ada Louise” that was to take them home to Vancouver Island from Ottawa. They made it to Florida, but age caught up and the boat was shipped overland to the State of Washington. They spent many happy hours sailing and caring for their boat. Ada was gifted with an intelligent and curious mind. Because she did not have an opportunity to attend university she read the university texts of her five sons. Her Christian faith was steadfast and true to the end. She was nurtured at the Church of Our Lord and was a respected and active member of the Christian Reformed Church. In her last years she and Edward found a welcoming and caring Christian community at the Saanich Peninsula Presbyterian Church. She leaves behind Michael and Liz, Graham and Mary Leigh, Christopher and Susan, Paul and Sue and Andrew and Alexandra and an assortment of 17 grand children and a number of great-grand children.

A Funeral Service will be held at The Saanich Peninsula Presbyterian Church, 9296 East Saanich Road, Sidney BC, Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 10:00 am., with burial to follow at Ross Bay Cemetery.

Sorry to be so late… I discovered this notice while I was looking for ancestors of my wife.
She is a descendant of Jean Borde and Antoinette Vernay who came at Victoria in 1858. We are located near Paris in France.
We could exchange more informations if you wish.
    Best Regards,
