October 15, 1954 – January 3, 2011
For much of his life, Alan marched to a different drummer. Now, the march is over, the drumming has stopped, and he was loved and will be missed and remembered.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his parents, Ronald and Joan; sister, Deborah; brothers, Scott (Wendy) and Brian (RaeAnna); 2 nephews and 1 niece; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Olympic View Golf Club in Colwood on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Goldstream Food Bank would be appreciated.

Debbra Greig Alan and I were in elementary school together, in the same grade. It was sad to read that he passed away so young. I am sure that he is now fine. My condolences to his family.

Dave Heslop Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss of Al. It saddened me to see his obituary this morning. I have not seen Al for many, many years and don’t know what path his life took, but I will always remember him as a good natured , fun loving guy with a ready smile.

What a shame. Of all the Ridley clan, Alan was the nicest. Due to his kind and pleasant nature, his honesty and genuine way of treating people he really stood apart from the family at the time when I knew them.The sad part, is that he knew that and his smile to me betrayed his thoughts. I hope that wherever he is now, he is happier and at peace.
