My sympathy and prayers are with the family and friends of Alex Hall. While this comes to you over two years after his death it is sincerely meant. Alex Hall was my Godfather and I knew him as Uncle Alex. He was Best Man at my parents (Rod and Dorrien Clack) wedding which took place in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England, in October 1944. I was born in Victoria in November 1946 and christened in January 1947. On that occasion Uncle Alex presented me with a Bible which I have to this day. My version of preference now is the NIV, but even if it were the KJV the print is now too small for me to use the one given me by Uncle Alex! I left Victoria in 1965 after finishing high school returning to visit a number of times. I had contacted Uncle Alex on some of my visits to the Victoria area and on some I was able to visit with him which is when I learned of his mission trips to the Ukraine. I most definitely enjoyed hearing his stories of his trips there. My most recent visits were in 2007 and 2008 when I took leaves of absence from my work to care for ailing parents just prior to their deaths and had no contact with anyone on those visits other than family. How did I come to see the obituary for Uncle Alex?……surfing the Internet. Other than Fiona, Uncle Alex’s (ex) wife I do not know who other family or friends of his were, but I hope you will accept my very belated condolences as they are sincerely meant.

My condolences to Mr. Hall’s family & friends. Such a fine man and model Christian. He taught my dad and later some of us children Sunday School at St. Luke’s Church before his Emmanual Baptist days. I remember his warm smile and grounded knowledge of his beliefs. I’m sure he positively touched many people in his long life.

Alex Hall was a good friend to us, I met him in 1993 on the way to Ukraine to help out in mission work. Over the years we went several times on the same trip, mainly because our desires to serve where similar. During the last decade Alex supported our endeavors in Ukraine by supporting BBI, (Busivka Bible Institute) in Busivka, Ukraine. Alex always wanted to know exactly what was going on at the school and how he could help. He did support the school and without his help the work there would probably not been able to continue. However with Alex’s support the school is going strong and Alex will be missed by us all here and by his friends in Ukraine.
Alex always wanted to go back, just one more time. He missed his friends in Ukraine, I still here in many letters, young people asking how Alex is doing.
I remember one time entering with Alex a classroom at the University of Dnepropetrovsk which was filled to capacity, but when Alex entered students where calling out to him to come and sit beside them. So it happened that 3 people sat on 2 chairs just to make room for Alex and be near him.
All of these students knew that Alex was much older then they were, but his humor, witness and faith attracted them to him, and he always had a message for young people. His witness to them shaped many lives. ..
    Yes, we will miss Alex.

I met Alex Hall on the Urals trip in 1994 as part of the Alpha and Omega outreach. As I remember, Alex visited Ukraine on several occasions. He was quite aged by then, yet very full of vigor, life, and that witty humor. We students were so excited to have him by our side. Praise God for his heart for the young! This is probably why He gave him such a long life! Alex’s presence was so special and his role so unique. He left a ray of sunshine and joy in my heart. See you just a bit later, Alex Hall! Thanks so much for your heart for Ukraine!

We were sorry to hear of the falling asleep of Alex. Although we only met him via the telephone we were sincerely glad of his friendship over the years. It was through George Bonser that we were introduced to Alex. Unfortunately George has now been gone for over four years and Jean his wife is in a nursing home and very frail. They were good friends and constant correspondents of Alex and I am sure Jean would want us to pass on her condolences also.

I will always remember Alex as a man who loved to share Jesus with others. He loved to work with students and he loved Ukraine.
I met him when I was a missionary to Ukraine from 1993-2005. He share Christ with the youth ministry in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. The youth ministry there is called: The Alpha and Omega Christian Education of Youth Association. Alex also joined us on an outreach with Agape Austria to the cities of Zlataoust and Mias in the Urals of Russia. He had a great heart for Jesus. We will miss him.
