It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Gordon Cooper, on February 5th, 2011. Born in Sheffield England, on June 29th, 1929. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy. Children; Kim (Jeannie), Jayne (Paul), Paul (Ellie). Six grandchildren. Great-grandson Trystan. Brother Alan (June), and Nephew Jon (Clare).

Gordon and Dorothy immigrated to Victoria in 1953, where he worked at The B.C. Telephone Co., for thirty years, before retiring in 1984. While there, he was elected President of The Federation of Telephone Workers.

A Builder, Dancer, Technician, Sailor, Fisherman, and Traveller. Good-bye Dad. We Love You.

A Visitation and Memorial Reception will be held at MCCALL BROS. FAMILY CENTRE, Johnson at Vancouver Street on Thursday, February 17th, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Our special thanks go out to the Doctors and Nurses of the Royal Jubilee Hospital, who truly made Gordon’s last days as comfortable as possible.

    Gordon moved to Victoria a year before I was born but what a great example to follow for longevity in retirement . No matter how much time passes things tend to start seeming like only yesterday. Salute to his life and to your family.
