In Loving Memory
Allan was a social butterfly. From his role as a transit operator, to a funeral home driver, to a limousine driver, Allan loved meeting people and interacting with those around him. He touched a lot of people. And he treasured life. He will, therefore, be missed by many but especially by his loving family and dear friends. Predeceased by Carol (Irene Allen) and Jo (Joyce Elizabeth Moreland) and his siblings (Shirley Sutherland, Dawn Ostrom and Jack Mawdsley), Allan leaves behind his children — Deidre Vance with Rob Henderson and Scott and Cameron; Andrew Mawdsley with Shelly McFadden-Davison and Stephanie and Aaron with Brynn; Sheila Mawdsley with Glenn Ewen and Danielle; and stepchildren Steve Sawatsky and Lisa, their children Clare with Steven, Daniel with Sarah and Keenan with Jess; Mike Sawatsky, his daughter Julia; and Kirsten Sawatsky with Ben Cawston, herchildren Megan with Adam, Nicholas with Lisa and Justin with Carson; plus 13 great-grandchildren!
Please join us in Celebrating Allan’s Life, in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 2:00pm, with the Rev. Daniel Fournier, Celebrant.

Jennifer McDonald I’m saddened by Allan’s passing, and extend my sympathy to his family.
My husband, John McDonald, was friends with Allan from the Arion Choir and working at McCall’s, and Allan was easy to be friends with! John passed earlier this year as well, he would have wanted to express the value of their friendship. Thinking of you.

Jim Johnson I got to know Allan when I rejoined the Victoria Arion Male Choir back in 2021. Allan loved the music and the camaraderie with the guys. He sang for many years with the Arion Choir. After he left the choir because of his health he still came out to our concerts. Allan was a kind and very much a peoples person. I would like to offer my deepest and heart felt condolences to his family and friends. The choir look forward to being there at the Celebration of Life and honor what he loved friends, family and music.

Great guy – worked alongside Al at BC Transit for almost 30 yrs. Rest in Peace.
