1929 – 2015
It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Amelia Aleksich on November 10, 2015, in Victoria, BC. Amelia was born in Nanaimo, BC and moved to Vancouver, BC at a very young age. She lived most of her life in Vancouver then moved to Salt Spring Island in 2005, to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Matt and Ana and her siblings Milan and Olga. She leaves behind her daughter Mia (Albert); grandchildren, Chloe, Hunter, Luke; many nieces, nephews, cousins and very close friends. Amelia was a gentle, selfless person with an amazing flair for style, she always approached life with compassion and dignity with all she went through.
Please join us in celebrating Amelia’s life on Monday, December 14, 2015, at the Croatian Cultural Centre, 3250 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

A. Williamson Sad to hear about Amelia’s passing. I last heard from her in 1992 and may not have replied. We met at UBC in English 101, our first year. Both of us were older students which brought us together. We were friends for many years until our paths went in different directions. She is remembered as a one who always had a smile and very friendly. Her taste in design and furnishings was very impressive to me. Nice to know that she was able to spend her later years with her daughter Mia and grandchildren. Sincere condolences to an old friend.

Peter Powell I was so sad to hear of Amelia’s passing and I wanted to offer my deepest sympathies. Amelia kept in contact every few months for all the year’s since my own mothers passing and she will be very much missed.

I was Amelia’s son in law for decades. My darling Amelia was one of the lights in my life at a very difficult time. I became her son for a couple decades and I love and miss her. I was her boy. No greater privilege than that. Best to all.
