Val passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer on January 8, 2018. Val was born on November 30, 1937 in Liverpool, England. She leaves behind Ralph, her loving husband of over 50 years, her two daughters Heather (Denny) and Robin (Scott) and two granddaughters. She will be missed immensely by friends and family.
Val began her journey to Canada in 1964, while working her way to Australia with her friend Ruth. Their first stop was Toronto, where she met Ralph. They married a year later and settled in Winnipeg, where she continued her career as an executive secretary. She spent summers on Lake of the Woods, where they built the family cottage and continued to do so, even after moving to Victoria in 1993. Val especially loved to dance, garden, travel, socialize with her friends and spend time with family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sherman and Dr. Gellar, the nurses from Island Health and Victoria Hospice for all the care they provided for Val.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Val to the BC Cancer Agency, 2410 Lee Avenue, Victoria, BC, V8R 6V5.
A Celebration of Val’s Life will be held at Windsor Park Pavilion, 2451 Windsor Road, Victoria, BC on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at 2:00 pm.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Sending love and condolences to you and your family !
Ralph, we will always cherish the two weeks holiday we had together last year in La Cruz, Mexico. She was such a bubbly lady and so much fun. Still hear her laughter. She will be missed by many.
Our condolences to you and your family.

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Val’s passing. Fred and I extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family at this time. May those precious memories of a loving wife, mother and grandmother sustain you through your time of grief.
One person, one lifetime, so many beautiful memories – too many to mention except for the special ones – your meeting Val when we all lived in Toronto and how quickly you realized that you wanted t0 spend the rest of your life with her — if only she’d move to Winnipeg! and she did!!.
You and Val enjoyed many years of love and laughter with friends and family. How fortunate you are to have Heather and Robin and their families to carry on Val’s legacy.
I stood up for you at your wedding as you did for me. We’ve been thru a lot together over the years – and once more I’m here for you as your best friend.
With much love and cherished memories. Bob (and Barb too}

We were fortunate to spent time with Val at Marina Azul. She did always brighten up your day.
Nobody would forget her dancing.
May she rest in peace.
So many great memories to look back on either at Lake of the Woods & also at Brentwood Bay. My thoughts & prayers go out to you Ralph & family at this sad time.
Val will never be forgotten.
