Andy Kozyniak passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospice on February 24, 2013 at the age of 75.  Predeceased by his parents Andrew Kozyniak (1976) and Maria (Bonk) Kozyniak (1983).  Andy was born October 21, 1937 in Dencross (Brokenhead) Manitoba.  He was raised on the family farm, the fourth among six siblings who, with their families mourn his passing: Anne, Pearl, Mike, Steffi, and Rose.  Also left to mourn him immeasurably are daughters Sheryl (Darwin) and Michelle (Duncan), grandchildren Hannah, Isaac, Arden, Ruthie and Simon.  For the last 10 years, Dad greatly enjoyed his retirement from his work as an Electrician for almost 30 years at the Prince George Regional Hospital.  He was humble and kind, strove to tread gently on the earth and enjoyed his camping trips with his grandchildren.  Throughout his life he was concerned with social justice, helping others, and passing those principles to his daughters and eventually to his grandchildren.  He kept active with daily walks, puttering in his garden and dancing at the Legion until a cancerous tumor in his knee prevented these enjoyments this past June.  Following radiation and chemotherapy throughout the summer and early fall, Dad entered the hospital again at the beginning of February, with the cancer spreading beyond any treatment options.  At Hospice, he was able to experience the loving kindness and care that enabled him to let go.  Dad was aware of his circumstances until his passing, fondly recalling his co-workers at PGRH, his joy in his grandchildren, his caring neighbors, new friends at Aberdeen and his childhood years growing up on the farm.  Family memorial will follow the delivery of Dad’s ashes to Manitoba in the future. Donations in Andy’s memory may be made to your local Hospice.

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to Andy’s Family on his passing, especially Sherry-Ann. I thought Andy was a knowledgeable, gentle, caring and sharing man who spoke proudly of his children and grandchildren. He could talk on any subject with wisdom; from gardening to computers to politics. I looked forward to reading his Letters to the Editor in our daily paper. Andy was always willing to offer his time and assistance if you needed it. He helped me with my computer problems on more than one occasion.
    He will be greatly missed.
