Angela Pecorelli

Angela Pecorelli passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospice on March 31, 2015. She was born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Cosenza Italy January 20, 1926 and wanting a better life for her children immigrated to Canada in 1967.

Angela was predeceased by her husband Francesco in 2002 and will be dearly missed by her five children, Joseph (Elena), Biagio (Rosemary), Mario (Gina), Maria (Peter), and Nina; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Angela’s strong faith was only second to her fierce love and devotion to her family. Nothing gave her greater joy than to have her family gather around her table, eat her lovingly prepared meals, and enjoy a cup of espresso and a few laughs. Angela was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her friends and neighbours were often the benefactors of her generosity and her grandchildren would always be treated to freshly baked bread, pizzelle, and popsicles from Nonna’s freezer. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the physicians and staff of 6 South at RJH and the Victoria Hospice.

Prayer Services will be held on Monday, April 6 at 7pm in McCall’s Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver Streets. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 7 at 1pm at Sacred Heart Church, 1440 Nelthorpe Street with entombment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC or Victoria Hospice.

  8. I see a table covered in a white linen table cloth, decorated with gold trimmed espresso cups! The espresso pot on the stove echoed that familiar gurgling sound saying, “get those pizzelli ready because here I come to gather around Angelina’s welcoming table!” We’d sit together and share our lives, enjoy the coveted espresso and the flavours of her famous baking! A role model of love, great sense of humour and her welcoming nature will be forever embed in my heart! I will mis you, but I know that you will be welcomed in Paradise!
