Gone Too Soon, but Forever in Our Hearts
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Anika Rai, who left this world far too soon. Anika was a radiant soul—full of warmth, kindness, and a spirit that touched everyone she met. She lived her life with passion, always seeking to bring joy to others, and her laughter could light up even the darkest days.
Born with a heart of gold, Anika had an unwavering love for her family, friends, and the world around her. She loved being in nature and traveling. Animals and children were always instantly drawn to her warm and kind energy. She was a dreamer, a doer, and a believer in the goodness of people. Her compassion knew no bounds, and her presence brought comfort to those in need. Whether through her thoughtful words, her infectious smile, or her selfless acts of kindness, Anika left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Anika obtained her degree in Psychology from UBC and had a passion for working with young children.
Though her time with us was much too brief, Anika’s legacy of love, generosity, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those who cherished her. We take solace in knowing that she is now at peace, watching over us with the same boundless love she gave so freely in life.
She is survived by her loving Mother (Bobbi) and Father (Bali), older sister (Satina) and younger brother (Jaiven), as well as many loving extended family members and devoted friends forever changed by her beautiful soul. While we grieve her loss, we also celebrate the incredible person she was and the light she brought into our lives.
A funeral service will be held at in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, at 11:00am, where we will come together to offer love, and find comfort in one another. For those who may not be able to attend in person, a private link can be shared to attend online. There will then be a Sikh prayer ceremony afterwards at the Khalsa Diwan Sikh Temple (1210 Topaz Avenue) at 1:00pm, followed by langar (vegetarian meal). All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to The Victoria Humane Society, supporting the place where she found her fur baby Zelda, and continuing the kindness Anika embodied throughout her life.
Rest in peace, sweet Anika. You were a gift to this world, and though you are gone, your spirit will never fade.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Daragh I am so sorry for your loss. She sounds like a beautiful person. I only met her once, at Nic West’s funeral. She spoke so well and was so brave. Not the way anyone wanted them to be together forever.

I was Anika’s SS instructor for the ECE program. It was a pleasure knowing Anika for the short time during the program. She was a great student! I am so incredibly sorry for her loss of life and the pain she suffered losing her loved one last April. My condolences to Anikas family!
