On March 1, 2016, three weeks after her 92nd birthday, our mother and Beppe left us to find her eternal peace with God. Although we know she lived a full and long life, we are heartbroken in knowing that we will never see her again. Beppe (Frisian for grandma) was predeceased by her husband, Martin in 1993 and leaves behind her children, Zena and Lou (Sandy); grandchildren, Jennifer (Brock), Chris, Ben and Annie and great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Koen.
Born in Friesland, the Netherlands, on February 12, 1924, Anna spent her teen years living in the darkness of WWII. In 1950, Anna and Martin emigrated to Canada, ending up in the small village of Black Creek on Vancouver Island and eventually settling down in Campbell River. Anna and Martin operated a nursery and landscaping business in Campbell River for many years before retiring to Victoria in 1976.
Beppe was all four cornerstones for our family. She displayed her love for us through her actions and continual support. Getting older may have slowed her down physically but her resolve and commitment to living life as she saw it never faultered. We will all miss her immensely.
A memorial service and reception will be held at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Monday, March 7 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Victoria Hospice.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Pat Jensen Hello Olivier family – so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. I grew up in Campbell River on Tamarac Street (#1700) and spent many times in the garden centre and playing hide and seek in the greenhouses. I think my sister Pauline and I (Pat Cote-Jensen) got into trouble a few times with your Mom for being in the greenhouse. I remember her being so tall, beautiful and kind.
I recall seeing Zena and Mom a few times in Victoria where I live and did speak with Zena when she had children in school – probably the last time was when she was in nursing school.
Again, my condolences on the loss of your Mother. May your memories of her comfort you in the days ahead when she will be missed.

Kathy Wolfson Zena and Lou, we are so very sorry to hear about Anna’s passing.
She was a lovely lady and a great neighbour.
We really enjoyed her sense of humor, and over-the-fence gardening advice !
Her independent spirit, mowing the lawn, and driving her car almost into her 90’s, was truly inspiring. Our sympathies, Kathy and Gary Wolfson
