Anna passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday May 20, 2022. She will be deeply missed by her husband Troy and daughters Kyla and Lucy. Anna was born on November 28, 1966, in Candelaria, Quezon, Philippines. She moved to Victoria, BC, Canada at age 6 with her mother Naomi and three brothers Domingo, Giovanni, and Walter, all who survive her. Anna had a strong commitment to, and love of her family. She found happiness in time spent with her mom, brothers, all her cousins, uncles, and aunties. This was very special for her throughout life. As a young woman Anna was very involved with the Victoria Filipino Canadian Association, this was the start of a long history of volunteerism in the community. She volunteered at the 1994 Commonwealth Games which resulted in some lifelong friends and her transition to her first job in Human Resources. Anna developed her HR career over the years and excelled through determination, compassion, and poise. Anna loved to travel, from her first trip to Japan and later working for international companies she was able to visit many places around the world. She traveled for work, pleasure, and family throughout her life, and this brought her joy. When Anna immigrated to Canada from the Philippines as a child, it was difficult for her and her family, but it eventually taught her to make friends with ease. Her spirit was infectious. Anna developed many close relationships throughout her life as she moved from Victoria to Vancouver to Montreal to the UK, back to Vancouver and then finally back home to Victoria. Coming back to Victoria with Troy and their young daughters, Anna was greeted by old friends and new. These friendships took on a new chapter after she moved home as Anna was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. With the support of so many, Anna battled cancer for over four years raising money and awareness for the cause that became so important to her. Anna made a mark on all those that knew her. There truly was a village that came to support her from Victoria and around the world. She will be missed beyond words.

Funeral Service will be conducted by Father Alfredo Monacelli at 11:00 am on Monday, May 30, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 753 Burnside Rd W, Victoria, BC.  Viewing at 10:00 am. Her burial to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive.  Reception will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation in Anna’s name: https://linktr.ee/inmemoryofanna?fbclid=IwAR2N2lfpHLi07ju0NHvdQjMpHUuhObZ4B-TnZIfXQnUlphFLKvU6x7Y2l5Y

Thinking of our delicious lunches and laughter as we snuck out of the office from time to time, and for Anna’s own vibrant kindness as an HR leader to me during my cancer treatment.

Wishing Troy and Kyla and Lucy many wonderful stories and memories to keep Anna close in their hearts for many years to come. Anna definitely left her mark <3

I worked with Anna for a few years in Sophos, and she was the most incredibly positive, spirited, passionate, fun-loving human I’ve known. From water gun fights, to halloween costumes, to chatting over coffee about life, kids, travel, I loved every moment spent with her! Anna was such an inspiration and we will truly truly miss her. She’s made a difference to so many lives and heaven just gained a bright star.. May peace be with the family..

We like to express our deepest condolences to Troy and the girls. We felt the love that she was so gracious to extend to us when we moved to Victoria in the early 90’s and when we visited a few years back it felt like we never left. We will keep your family in our prayers.
