It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Evelyn Steel (nee Moreland). She passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Sunday, March 1st, 2026, after complications from a stroke. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and held in their love.
Anne was born in Toronto, Ontario in July 1938 to Charles and Marjorie Moreland (nee Allen). She was the oldest of three daughters which included Joyce (Jo) and Lynne. She is predeceased by her sister Jo, who passed in 2022.
Anne was blessed to have lived a life full of family and love. She is predeceased by her husband, Barry, who passed in 1986, and who she described as the love of her life. Together, in 1983, they welcomed Jesus into their lives and became born again Christians, a faith that she held strong to for the rest of her life, and which brought her much comfort.
Anne touched many in her life with her quick wit and talkative nature. She had an adventurous and feisty spirit and a curious, inquisitive mind. Her sense of humour and love of making others laugh gave her immense joy. She loved to laugh and found happiness in so many things. She was creative and artistic in her hobbies and interests, such as sewing, arts and crafts and, in her later years, even dabbling in nature drawings. She loved animals of all kinds and was entertained by the quizzical antics of the birds and squirrels outside of her window.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed making her home welcoming and warm for her friends and family who visited often. Cooking and baking were passions of hers in her younger years that added to the warmth of home.
She had a penchant for interior design and enjoyed finding new ways to rearrange furniture to bring new life to her environment. No surface was safe from a fresh coat of paint to liven it up when the mood struck her for change.
Since childhood, she had struggled with asthma and, in her most recent years, had numerous health challenges which she faced with strength and courage.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Rick, Susie (David), and Lola. As well as her grandchildren, Lindsay, Kaley, Jennifer (Drew), Christopher, Ben, Willie and Connery and her great grandchildren, Hannah and Harper, and her sister Lynne.
What is remembered, lives on, and Anne’s memory will be lovingly carried forward in the hearts of those who loved her.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Karen Till I am so sorry for your loss Susie, David and family. Although I never had the privilege of meeting your mom Susue, I can see that she was a very special person because she was your mom and your dear friend as well. Her beautiful eulogy gave me a further glimpse into the type of person she was. I thought that she and I have had several things in common. The days ahead will be difficult as you say your final goodbyes but I hope that all of the sweet memories will bring comfort and peace to your hearts.
