March 8, 1918 – January 22, 2012

Born in Liverpool, England to Ann Robinson and Albert Edward McDonald, Annie first emigrated to Canada in 1920 and lived in Ontario for a brief period of time. The family moved back to England when Annie was still very small and she grew up in Liverpool and neighboring West Kirby, Cheshire along with her brother, Albert McDonald. During the war she met Harry Tebbs from Hoylake and they were married in 1942. The entire family including Annie’s parents and brother emigrated to Canada in 1952.

Annie was predeceased by husband Harry in 1976 and is survived by daughter Patricia and her husband Michael Claxton, daughter Eileen Tebbs, grandson Christopher Claxton and his wife Tara, great-grandsons Apollo, Heywood and Case Claxton, nephew Michael McDonald and his family, and relatives in England, USA and Australia.

Annie was a charter member of the Victoria Pride Lioness Club and she enjoyed participating in their many functions over the years. Annie resided at her home in the West Saanich/Prospect Lake area for over 60 years.

Many thanks to the nurses and doctors in Emergency and on 4A North at Victoria General Hospital who took such good care of her on her last day. Also many thanks to the staff and home care workers provided through Beacon Community Services. Their assistance made it possible for Annie to safely remain in her home and maintain her independence. She particularly enjoyed sharing stories from her long life with the daily respite care workers and hearing details of their lives.

Annie treasured her family and friends above all else and took particular pleasure in watching her grandson and three great-grandsons grow up. Their visits were the highlight of her life.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s & All Angel’s Church, 4733 West Saanich Road, Rev. Herbert O’Driscoll officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Childrens’ Hospital Foundation, 360B Harbour Rd. Victoria, BC V0A 3S1.

Dear Pat and Eileen, so sorry to hear about your mum, although she must have had a ‘good innings’ I seem to remember making some dentures for her way back in the early seventies! On a lighter note, congrats to Christopher and his wife and family. We’re still awaiting our first grandchild, so I’m quite envious! Best wishes, Allan Oliver.
