Passed away after a brief illness on 9 October 2011 in Victoria, BC. She was born on 24 December 1922 in The Hague, the Netherlands. Predeceased by her husband John in 1983; siblings, Andre, Jan, Johanna, Piet and Antonius. Antoinette is survived by her daughter Johanna (David Logie); grandson Michael Schultz (Elena) and great-grandson Max as well as numerous nieces and nephews in the Netherlands. Antoinette often spoke fondly of her childhood in Holland and the many family vacations in the Ardennes. Her family survived WW II intact, barely. Following the war she met the love of her life through correspondence – John was born and raised in Indonesia and had been a Japanese POW for three years. John came to Holland in 1948, worked for KLM and married Antoinette in 1950. They honeymooned in Austria and travelled extensively in Europe/UK prior to immigrating to Canada in 1954, settling in Vancouver. Antoinette worked as a secretary in the Netherlands Defence Ministry for close to nine years prior to coming to Canada. She was always keen to keep herself busy and enjoyed crocheting, meeting friends, spending time with family and travelling, especially back to Europe. She loved to laugh. She spent the last eight years living at The Cedars in Assisted Living where she was lovingly cared for and where she thoroughly enjoyed herself.

Private Burial was held 14 October 2011 at Hatley Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Antoinette’s Life will be held at The Cedars, 3710 Cedar Hill Rd, on Tuesday, 1 November 2011, at 2:00 PM. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

Hello Joanne (Anneke)…My condolences to you and all of your family. I will let my brother know that Tante Toni has died. It’s a sad time but I’m sure your mother is happy to be back together with your wonderful father. I’m glad to see she became a great grand-mother.

It seems we are all becoming orphans lately. Mom died Jan 2010 and dad July 2011. My husband’s mother just died a few days after your mother. I don’t know what made me google your mother’s name today, but maybe I was meant to find you again; I’d like to think so. I think often with fondness to all the times we spent together in our childhood when we had adopted eachother’s families because we didn’t have family living locally. I think it is such a shame that we have lost touch.

If and when you feel like it I’d love to see you again. Are you still living in the Victoria area? My son lives in Victoria now…he’s the manager of the Kerrisdale Camera store. My grand-daughter Jade is living with him and attending Camosun college. Tom and I are seriously thinking of moving there in the next year or two after we retire.

Take care of yourself and embrace loving memories of your mother. Lots of love from Cina
