Suddenly and unexpectedly in the early morning hours of July 27, 2010 Audrey passed away with her family at her side after suffering a stroke at home. Born in Salmon Arm B.C. in 1926 Mom moved to Victoria in 1942 where she attended Oak Bay High School followed by Victoria College. Later she married Ken MacNeill and together they built their family home where they lived for 55 years and raised their four children. Mom was a caring, generous, devoted and loving wife , mother , grandma and great grandma. She was an exemplary cook, loved to bake and to entertain family and friends and was happiest when surrounded by her family. She took great pride in her garden, enjoyed travelling, playing bridge, knitting and listening to music. Mom was a long time member of PEO Chapter A J, a founding member of the Goward House, a member of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club and a volunteer for numerous community events. Her passing has come as a shock to all of us. We knew she was not well but we all hoped to have more time with her. She is predeceased by her parents Dr Charles and Kathleen Usher, daughter in law Janice MacNeill, brother in law Don Simmons and only a few weeks ago on June 28 2010 by her husband Ken. Audrey is lovingly remembered by her children and their families: Barbara Dunn (Tom), Ian MacNeill (Doreen), Scott MacNeill , Katie MacNeill (Rick Pinniger), seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, her sisters Evelyn Grundison, Margaret Richmond, and Helen Simmons (Seattle). The family would like to express their appreciation to ladies at We Care who helped Mom and Dad to remain their home and to Dr Ran Donaldson for his compassionate care.
At Mom’s request there will not be a service. Donations in her memory can be made to the M.S. Society, Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing Institute, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mom, your memory and love are forever in our hearts, we will always miss you. Condolences may be offered at www.mccallbros.com
