Aurora Karp gave us an unexpected Mother’s Day gift, bursting into this world at 8:53 a.m. on May 12, weighing 5 lbs 12 oz.

Unfortunately, Aurora suffered a traumatic brain injury, and as a result her body was not able to support her beautiful little spirit. Following an excruciating week of cuddles, tears, and meeting her grandparents, uncle and big brother Mattias, Aurora passed away peacefully in her parents’ arms on May 19.

We are very grateful for the short time we were able to share with Aurora, but are devastated that she could not be with us longer. We have been receiving tremendous support from friends and family, as well as the dedicated and compassionate teams at Victoria General Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Canuck Place. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either of these important organizations.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.
