Barbara passed away on May 6, 2017. In true Bari fashion, she insisted that her age not be revealed! She was a graduate of St. Margaret’s School, Victoria College, and the University of British Columbia.  Predeceased by her brothers William McDougall Sloan and the Honourable Gordon McGregor Sloan, Bari leaves her children Mark (Jane), Cathy (Charlie), Gregory (Frances) and her grandchildren Lorraine (Jordan) and Jenny (Jordan), Matthew, and Greg (Elizabeth).

After a career in social work, Bari was a student of Ikebana for many years and pursued a keen interest in sports cars (including, to name but a few, a Morgan +8, an Alfa Romeo Spider, and her trademark Fiat convertible). Her enjoyment of cars was surpassed only by her fondness for her feline companions.   Her joie de vivre and inimitable style will long be remembered. As Bari always did enjoy a soirée, please join us in raising a glass to her.

Many thanks to the staff of Dogwood 1 at Oak Bay Lodge.  No service by request.

Dear Cathy, Mark and Greg, I was so sorry to read of your mother’s death. She was a lovely and funny soul. Remember the days when we were little Cathy and she was busy renaming us Penelope and Agatha, or some such names? When I told my mum, she said your mum should be named Wisteria. When I finally learned what wisteria was, and what it looks like-and then was able to understand what my mum meant, years later-I think it was a good name. Beautiful, very feminine and abundant. I wish solace and the best for you all. Jane Cupples xx

My sincere condolences to Bari’s family.
Bari was our next door neighbour when we moved into our home five years ago and made us feel welcome. She looked after our mail whenever we went away and Joy visited her with flowers when we returned. She was always willing to talk about sports cars and knew far more about them than we did although we had one at one time. Rest in Peace.

So sorry to read of Baba’s passing. She will be very much missed. She was sure a bright star the few times we met. Thinking of you all at this time.

My condolences to Bari’s family. Although I did not know her for a long time I enjoyed her company very much. She was great fun and a truly amazing woman. She had a beautiful spirit and will be missed.
