November 15, 1944 – February 18, 2011

Barbara Lee Wolfe (nee Armstrong) passed away February 18, 2011 in her home in Victoria. Barbara was born on November 15, 1944 to Elizabeth and John Armstrong in Rouyn Noranda, Quebec. She is survived and will be dearly missed by son James (Alison); daughter Jennifer (James); and grandaughter Emma. Affectionately known as Nana B., Barb was pillar for the family and her spirit positively impacted many during her time with us. “Each day I strive to live by my personal motto: Everyone has limitations. What is done with the limitations determines success or failure. Remember, laughter is really the best medicine, Barb.”

My condolences to Barbs family and friends. I never met her in person, but I was always pleased to hear her voice when I was scheduling hours for a patient at home. She was always pleasant and helpful. I felt like she had a smile on her face. She will be missed. She was a special person. Take care of each other.

    Dear Jennifer,James and Family..
I was truly sadden to hear about the passing of Aunt Barb. I have such vivid memories of her from when I was growing up in Rouyn. I spent a lot of time at Granny’s house, driving your poor mother crazy. She was a teenager and I was little girl and loved getting into all of her things. I loved to sneak into her room and play her records on her record play ..that is until the day I got caught by her! It had been many, many years since we had seen each other and one day out of the blue she called and to let me know that she was coming to Ottawa. I was so happy to see her ! We were able to spend the whole day together and she met my husband and daughter. We had a wonderful day getting to know one another as adults. It is a memory that I will cherish forever. Please know that you are in our hearts and prays..
From you cousins, Debbie, Beverly, Gary, Joanne, Linda, Louie and your Aunt Shirley Armstrong

Over the years we both lived our lives our way. But i have many memories of you from the day you came into this world. The hours i spent rocking you to sleep just about every night, and singing for you to sooth you into slumber land, to having you tag along behind me every where i went. Looking out for you when you started school and protecting you from the people who tried to pick on you both in public and at home. Although we went our separate ways you were always in my heart . Farewell baby sister you will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

I was so sad to hear that Aunt Barbara had passed away. When I was young we lived at Aunt Ede’s house together. She was Big Barbara and I was Little Barbara. I loved her so much. I treasured your family’s visit to Nova Scotia when Evelyn, my first born, was born. Aunt Barbara inspired me to learn and to keep learning. I saw confidence in her, compassion and a sense of humour. I was thinking of her alot the past year and wanted to get in touch. I wanted to tell her how much she influenced my life and what a strong example she was for me. I wanted to tell her she gave me confidence to complete a Masters degree. She was a great inspiration to me.
Jennifer and James, my heart goes out to you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May the memories of your mother bring a smile to your face and warm your heart. God Bless.

Jennifer and James and Family – It was my priviledge to have worked with your mother and through that connection become friends as well. We would get together for lunch every couple of months or so and share stories about life in general and, of course, our dear grandchildren. I will always cherish how special she made me feel when I first became a grandmother. Our last visit together was so special as she shared her trip to England with me. I was so happy for her that she had been able to fulfill this dream. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this time and you can be assured she will be missed by all who knew her.

Barb and I did not have much time to talk much because work was very busy at Beacon, but I remember one day talking with Barb about Rouyn Noranda, as this was a town I used to play Basketball in the old days and she would speak few French words with me and tell me some little stories about the place and then we would share some laughter together. Her laugh was contagious and sincere, she was a very dedicated person and always ready to help others. I will miss Barb.

Barb’s pleasant, friendly voice over the phone and her smile in person at her desk while sorting schedules… guess the man above needed someone special to organize things and knew she was the best. Always will be in our thoughts and prayers as we will certainly miss you dear BARB. Condolences go out to her family at this time of sorrow.. One of the best gone but never forgotten….
