January 16, 1944 – July 3, 2013

It is with great sadness the family of Bea Vowles announces her passing at home on July 3, 2013. Bea was born in Oliver, BC to William and Bernice Rutherford. The family moved to Sooke in 1959 where she attended Milnes Landing High School, graduating in 1961. Bea attended Sprott Shaw College and worked for BC Tel before getting married in 1962 and starting her family. She was well known in the community having worked many years in customer service at CIBC, Pacific Coast Savings, Peoples and Western Foods. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family so much. She had a wonderful sense of humour and loved her cats. We are heartbroken to have lost her and will miss her deeply.

Predeceased by her daughter, Marlaine, she is lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Steve; daughter, Melody (Mark); grandchildren, Lori, Jordan (Sarah), Kaitlin and Jared; great-granddaughter, Kailey; brothers, Bruce and Dale; sister, Mary Ann; brothers and sisters-in-law; her many nieces and nephews and friends.

A service will be held at Sooke Harbour Cemetery on Thursday, July 11 at 1:00 pm followed by a tea reception at Prestige Oceanfront Resort. Flowers gratefully declined.

My thoughts are with you, in your time of sorrow. I had the pleasure of working with Bea. She had such a wonderful way of dealing with customer. often having them in fits of laughter. Work has never been the same without her and her great sense of humor. I will miss her more than words can say.
