With sad hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Bev Faulks on January 28, 2025 at Victoria General Hospital, Victoria, BC.
Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Edith Luff, Bev is survived by her husband, Dick Faulks, her sons, Norman (Sandy), Ken (Jill), cousin Bonnie Manning (Van), nephew William Edlund (Sheila).

Bev attended Sunday School at First United Church and then attended the Church of St. John the Divine where she worshipped for 45 years.

After graduating from (the original) Mount Douglas High School, Bev graduated as a Registered Nurse from Victoria’s St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. She returned to St. Joseph’s Hospital after two years of study in Montreal and taught paediatric nursing. Her greatest professional love, though, was performing direct patient care. During the years when her children were growing up, Bev worked part-time at Tillicum Lodge, Victoria.

In the Spring of 1961, Bev met Dick and they were married on August 25, 1962.

Bev had the gift of hospitality and was happiest when she had family and friends around her table. She will be remembered as the best wife, mother and friend that one could hope for. She was known for her wonderful sense of humour and youthful spirit, which came through in so many ways.

For 24 years, Church of Our Lord has been Bev’s beloved home church where she enjoyed sharing her gifts of service and friendship. Bev is now with her Lord in heaven. Hers was a life well-lived.

The family would like to thank all doctors and staff at VGH who cared for Bev – in the ER, in N9B Low-Intensity Rehab and in S4A & S4B Medical. A special thank you to RN Samantha, in N9B, who was very kind and responsive to Bev’s needs.

On February 8, 2025 at 10:30 a.m., a Celebration of Bev’s Life will be held at Church of our Lord, 626 Blanshard Street, Victoria.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of Our Lord.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    Dear Dick, Ken and Norman…

Our hearts go out to you. Bev has been a tremendous encouragement to me, and many in my family. Best godmother that my brother Gordon could have had! She was always there for me in my early UVic days… she will be dearly missed. But there is no such thing as a “goodbye” for Christians. Our faith informs us that we will meet again.

Please know that you are all in our prayers… and the McDonald clan is thinking of you.

  • Rudy and Maria Gruter

Dear Dick, Norman, Ken and all family members. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Such a beautiful tribute to Bev at the service at Church of Our Lord. I will never forget each Sunday morning when Dick and Bev walked into the church together. God bless you all.

  • Ruth Swinton

    Dear Dick, Ken and Norman,

We remember Bev as full of life and a sincere, caring person. She was always very friendly and genuinely interested in everyone around her. She and Dick were two of the first people we met at St John’s and we appreciated their caring and kind ways. We know she will be missed very much. Please accept our condolences.

    Sincerely,
    Ruth Swinton and Daniel Nadeau

And oh my, Ken, can we ever see your likeness in the early nursing picture you posted of her. We smiled right away when we saw it! • Ron & Jan Webb

    Ron & Jan Webb,
It was always a joy to visit Dick and Bev and to feel welcome in their home. Bev was a gentle, gracious soul who loved company. A fellow nurse, we shared our love of the profession and our passion for enjoying live theatre in Chemainus. Our hearts and prayers go out to Dick and the family. She left a void not easy to fill but we are grateful that only time separates us and she is receiving her reward in heaven.

  • Paul & Shirley Mercier
