With heavy hearts we have said goodbye to Bonnie. Bonnie passed away peacefully after a long fight of pulmonary fibrosis at Nanaimo General Hospital, surrounded by family and friends at the age of 58.
Bonnie was born in Tofino, B.C., the youngest of five children born to Robert and Doris MacKenzie. After leaving school, she worked at various jobs. She graduated from Malaspina College School of Hairdressing and worked for many years as a licensed hair stylist.
Bonnie had a big heart and made many friends throughout her lifetime. She loved animals, and travelling. She also enjoyed dining out often and knew all the best eateries in town.
Bonnie was predeceased by her husband, Guy Patterson, parents, Robert and Doris MacKenzie, and brother Roddy MacKenzie.
She leaves to cherish her memory, brother Don (Heather) MacKenzie, sisters Kathleen MacKenzie, Marianne (Bruno) Garrecht, her 3 nieces and 3 nephews and their families, her many cousins, their extended families and her many friends.
A private family service was held in October 2025.
