With love and gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Bonnie Derrien announces her peaceful passing on October 9, 2025, in Sidney, BC.
Bonnie is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 43 years, Laurie Derrien; her children Lynn (Lorne), Lana, Guy, and Leah (Richard); her cherished grandchildren Robyn (Rory), Brendan (Katrina), Lauren, Erik, Malcolm, Hannah, Morgan, and Alison; great-grandchildren Ada, Wren, and Mack; and her siblings Jay (Bryon), Barbara, John (Sofie), and Gary (Adele). She was predeceased by her parents.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, on November 17, 1945, Bonnie’s life was one of curiosity, generosity, and deep connection. She built a long and respected career in bookkeeping, known for her keen mind and unwavering integrity. Later in life, her love of the ocean inspired her to earn a degree in Environmental Science from Camosun College—a reflection of her lifelong passion for learning and for nature’s beauty. Whether walking the beach with Laurie or bringing home yet another rock or seashell, the sea always called to her heart.
Bonnie found great joy in time spent boating with her husband and in the simple, meaningful moments shared with family and friends. She was an active member of her fellowship community, giving back with kindness and wisdom, and offering steady support to others on their journeys.
Her warmth, humour, and strength will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
