Brenda Gail Boyd (nee Haley) died in Victoria, B.C. on August 1, 2026. She was 75 years old. Born in New Westminster, B.C., on May 27, 1951, she subsequently grew up in various communities throughout B.C., eventually landing in the West End of Vancouver in the early 70’s. Brenda and her husband, Bill, raised their family in South Surrey / White Rock where they lived for 28 years.
In White Rock, Brenda opened Rainbow Park Preschool, based out of the family home, where she excelled by promoting her play-based program, hosting an untold number of children and their families from the neighbourhood for 17 years. Her skills as an organizer and her gift for nurturing young minds were on full display during those busy years.
After retirement and selling her thriving business in 2008, Brenda and Bill relocated to Victoria, B.C. There she pursued her other passion, cycling. As an avid member of Victoria’s cycling community, Brenda actively participated in advocating for the city’s ever expanding cycling infrastructure. She was on various committees, helped organize themed rides and generally lived on her bike. Brenda also took many cycling holidays throughout Canada, Cuba and Europe, seeing all the sights on two wheels.
Brenda’s personality was larger than life. She loved noisy house parties, lunches out with her friends, and annual summer camping trips to the Okanagan with her extended family, assorted pets in tow.
Predeceased by her parents, Cleve Haley and Marguerite Bloomfield, Brenda is survived by her husband Bill and their two children; Rob (Danielle), two grandsons Heath and Harrison, and daughter Catherine (James).
Brenda was the oldest of five siblings; Mona (Cliff), Jamie (Ingrid), Bernie (Cathy) and Bonnie (Marty). Her extended family includes many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws who will all miss her terribly.
