Bryan Tom Carey Bradbury passed away peacefully on March 20th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He will be terribly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Lynda (Baker), daughters Suzanne (Greg Damant), Laura (Franck Germain) and Jayne (Mark Beaudry) Bradbury. His beloved grandchildren, Rowan and Manon Damant, Charlotte, Camille and Clementine Germain, and Anna and Clara Beaudry, always made him so proud and filled his life with love and laughter. He is survived by his sister Bonnie White and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Tom and mother Alma Bradbury.
Fondly known as The Bry Guy, Papa, Beagle, Basel Brush and Dad, Bryan was many things to many people.
Bryan was born on May 19, 1942, in Victoria and raised in Oak Bay. He met Lynda in 1963 as they were both attending UVic. Bryan and Lynda brought each other so much happiness as they built a life together with their three daughters. The family had many happy years at Beach Acres and at the family cottage at Shawnigan Lake where Bryan was known for his waterskiing prowess and his readiness to drive the boat for his daughters and their friends. Bryan also loved Maui where he embraced the spirit of Aloha, his daily moi moi (nap), and subsisted on a unique diet of peanuts, sunset cocktails, and Ben & Jerry’s.
Bryan was a deeply committed and loving father and grandfather who got so much joy out of creating and supporting the wellbeing of his kids and grandkids. He believed and lived the motto that there are two things we should give our children: one is roots and the other is wings.
He was an exceptionally good friend, and was blessed with many special friend groups, whether raising his children with the beloved Four Core families on Lansdowne Road, spending time on the golf course with the Daft Buggers, or hunting and fishing with the group of friends that stayed close by him right to the end.
Bryan loved and excelled at his work in Fort Optical and Fort Properties and loved working alongside his daughters as they carried the business into the next generation. He was a formidable strategist, matched only by his total integrity, fairness, and genuine care for the people whose lives he touched. He became a mentor and cheerleader for so many, including his grateful daughters.
We invite you to remember Bryan every time you enjoy a fine glass of pinot noir, eat ice cream, or enjoy the peace to be experienced on the ocean or in the forest. He will be deeply missed, always in our hearts, and never forgotten.
Many thanks to the staff of Hart House for their kindness and care during Bryan’s final months. The family also wants to extend their gratitude to dear friends and family who provided support and love during this time.
A celebration of life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pacific Salmon Foundation or BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

He will be missed I’m sure, but was lucky to have such a wonderful, supportive and close family. Richard always loved to hear his fishing stories and the kids loved to swim and play tennis at your home where everyone was always welcomed. Sending hugs to all
