Carol Marie Jackson Nagasaki (nee Vidler)

December 24th, 1950 - January 19th, 2013

December 24th, 1950 - January 19th, 2013

Born in Victoria, British Columbia, Carol passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus, surrounded and loved by her devoted husband and partner of 44 years and three children. Predeceased by her parents, Bernie and Vicki and survived by her husband, Robert; her three children, and five grandchildren. As a child Carol enjoyed performing at any given opportunity, singing and entertaining her heart out. Her favorite time was spent along Willows Beach, riding her bike and making friends. At the age of 14, Carol moved to Toronto with her parents and siblings. As an adult, she became a gifted hair stylist and performed in numerous hair competitions. Carol and husband Robert opened their own hair design salon Nagasaki & Associates, where she dazzled all with her warmth, charisma and talent. ‘Summertime’ was spent in leisure, sailing with her family on Georgian Bay, where she enjoyed every adventure. In 1990 Carol moved back to Victoria with her family and continued to do hair. This time she decided to give back by working with seniors. She was caring and patient, singing to them and treating everyone with so much respect and kindness. In 2003, Carol was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, had a bone marrow transplant, and has since fought her cancer battle with courage and optimism. Family was always Carol’s priority and she so enjoyed being a mommy and grandma, ever doting, patient, and loving. She was an avid gardener, gourmet cook, and a kind and true friend. She embodied a joyful and vibrant spirit, exemplifying wisdom and gratitude. Carol was precious and cherished by all who knew her. Her love, generosity, forgiveness, and faith in God knew no boundaries. Carolini was the light of our lives and a queen of a woman – we were so blessed to have her. You’ll be in our hearts every step of the way, until we meet again one glorious day.

Special thanks to Dr. Donna Cuthbert and Dr. Kathy Dabrus for their wonderful care.

A celebration of Carol’s life will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 25th, 2013 at St. Matthias Church, 600 Richmond Street (at Richardson St), Victoria, BC. Reception to follow. Please feel welcome to wear colour. Donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation http://www.themmrf.org/

  3. Dear Robert, Camille, Myles, Mia, Lisanne, Paige and Michael,

My sincere condolences to all of you on your loss. The words above are a beautiful tribute to Carol, who shone with warmth and kindness. I’ll never forget the thrill of having my hair done by my older, stunning cousin, who always took the time to make me feel special and not like a little kid.

Heaven will be brighter but it seems unfair for Carol to leave all the people who loved her so soon. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.

    Love Leslie

  4. My deepest condolences to the family, I’ll always remember Nana as the fun and warm hearted grandma she was. I remember when I came to visit and she was giving me singing lessons and we sang Summertime together. I wish I was able to visit more often. I don’t feel it was Nana’s time yet, but I suppose god has a plan for everyone and she may finally rest in peace. When I’m having troubles I ask myself (as Papa taught me) “What would Papa do?” and I know I can pull myself back up cause I know that’s what Papa would do. Stay strong everyone, I love you Nana.
