I’m so sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. We were friends in veterinary college and I well remember her laugh and great sense of fun. I also remember late study nights when she would whip up a batch of fudge and we’d eat the whole thing while cramming for exams. I’m sorry to have lost touch with her after graduation, but very glad to have known her. She always managed to find humor and good even in tough times. My sincere condolences to all who loved her.

I was saddened to hear about Carol. I only met her a few times, but found her to be inspirational and very thoughtful. She came to speak to our Veterinary Technology class at Douglas, and I believe it was life changing for many of our students. Her expertise, humour and graciousness will be missed in our profession, but what she has taught so many will always have an impact. Hoping that Barb and the rest of her family, will take some comfort from knowing that she made a huge difference to so many of us!

Barb – our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. May you find some comfort in the knowledge of how many lives Carol touched in countless ways, and, eventually, in the memories you shared together which will live on. Karrie and Todd

I was Carol’s dissertation supervisor. Carol brought real vision to her pioneering work in veterinary ethics. But most of all she was a deeply caring person who touched so many of us at UBC. I will miss her greatly. It was privilege to have worked with her.

My thoughts and prayers are with Carol’s partner, family and friends. I worked with her for a short time, but her ethics and professionalism still stand out in my mind. You will be greatly missed, Doctor Carol.

  • Michael McDonald

I had the good fortune to be one of Carol’s mentors at UBC. She was an exceptional student who broke new ground in the area of veterinary ethics. I was always impressed by Carol’s energy and determination. My colleagues and I at the W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics will miss Carol greatly. Her work in ethics and animal welfare will leave an enduring legacy. Carol touched many lives including mine. I will miss her.

Such a bright light, great heart, & kind & generous spirit. An inspiration for many. Too short Carol – but a life well lived.

  • Janet Bright

Whenever Carol was around there was laughter especially while in the dragon boat. She was so strong and she fought a long battle. Now it is time for her to rest. We will miss you

I am sure I have never met many people as kind as Carol. Even while fighting her long drawn out battle she took the time to brighten my day with her words. Her life was cut short but she managed to accomplish a great deal in the time she had. Miss you Carol, I won’t be able to pass a ‘SEEs Chocolate’ shop without thinking of you.
