It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved Carter Mauricio Navarrete. Carter was the passenger in a fatal car accident in Sooke, BC on September 02, 2016. Carter was born on September 27, 1998 in Victoria, BC. He is survived by his mother Nicole Navarrete Gibbons and his father Mauricio Navarrete. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Spencer, Cole and his only sister Brooklyn. His puppy Pixel will also miss him dearly. He was an amazing grandson to Mike and Gail Gibbons and to Mauricio and Marilda Navarrete. He was a funny and energetic cousin and sweet nephew. Carter had a great group of friends, teachers, and coworkers who also filled his life will love.

Carter was an avid hockey player with Sooke Minor Hockey Thunderbirds. He started playing hockey at the age of 5 years. He had a passion for writing music, beat boxing and making fun short films with his closest friends. He recently graduated from Belmont High School spending most of his school years out in Sooke attending Poirier, Journey Middle School, and EMCS for part of his high school years. He participated in an Open mic night at Centennial Square in Victoria, for the last 2 years where he would beat box while his friends rapped. He passionately practiced his craft over the past few years. Carter had a passion to travel with New York, Cuba and Niagara Falls on his bucket list. He had plans to begin volunteering with the local dog pound and SPCA. Carter was in the process of collecting donations for the ‘Paws for a Cause’ walk with his dog Pixel, who Carter adopted from the pound a few years ago.

A private family service will be held on Friday, September 09, 2016 at Royal Oak Burial Park. A Celebration of Life will be held for all family, friends, and those wishing to help us share wonderful memories on September 10, 2016 at Edward Milne Community School at 1:00 pm. The address is at 6218 Sooke Road.

    We are so sorry to hear of the tragic loss of such a wonderful young man. Carter was taken from you and his life much to soon. There are no words to help and explain it other than he was needed somewhere else. Carter had accomplish so much at the young age of 17. His bright light was need in another place to continue spreading the joy he shared with all of us here on earth.
