Born in Vancouver, BC on November 28, 1969; Cassandra moved on, freed from her courageous battle with ovarian cancer on October 12, 2010. She never lost her zest for life through these past two years. Cassandra will be deeply missed by her parents, Doug and Cathy Brown; her twin sister, Candace Brown and especially her young niece, Caitlin Olson. “Auntie Cassie was fun. We loved her.” Also left to grieve and grow from Cassandra’s tremendous spirit are her loyal and loving extended family, true friends from early childhood and those gathered throughout her short but meaningful lifetime. Cassandra was a true free spirit who made the best of each day and each experience. She was generous and loved people, all animals, helping others, laughing, travelling, camping, shopping for a bargain, clothes, shoes, purses, jewellry, cooking, nail art, Betty Boop and her truck. She had natural artistic abilities. So important to her was the amazing care from Dr. Michels, Dr. Soulier, Dr. Margaret Smith, chemo nurses, Caly, Marie and Ana Maria, nurse Jo in RP1 and the beautiful and respectful staff and volunteers at Victoria Hospice for ensuring Cassandra’s last weeks were full of grace and dignity.

No service by request. Private celebration of her life at a later date. Cassandra believed strongly in the need to raise the profile of ovarian cancer. Please consider a donation in her memory to BC Cancer Agency information and research or Victoria Hospice Society. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

im so sorry for the loss of my friend, ur beloved girl Cass. we met over 20 years ago in winnipeg. i admired her so much because she was so strong! she didnt take anything from anyone. we lost touch for years, then thank god for facebook i found her again, we talked about the past and how i was living with a lot of shame, well she didnt take to that! cass put me in my place and told me everything happens for a reason, it makes us who we are today. her words really helped me that day. and we chatted all the time after that, i so enjoyed her trips, because she let us all go with her. your family created a beautiful honerable lady, and she will be missed dearly. i hope as the days go on, your loss wont hurt as much. and in time, when we think of her, it will be with smiles and laughter

We were deeply saddened upon receiving the call regarding you loss of Cassandra. There are no words adequate in expressing condolences for such a loss and what you and your family are experiencing.
This insidious thing called cancer has touched virtually everyone we know, be it family, friends or co-workers. We have been actively supporting the fight through participation and donations and will add another beautiful soul to our reason of involvement.
We hope in your love for each other and with the love of your family you can find the strength to get through this period of life and find better times ahead.
