Caterina was predeceased in 2005 by her beloved husband of 55 years, Domenico; her sister, Antoinetta Durante and her brother, Salvatore (Ursula) Durante of San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy and her brother, Saverio Durante (Rosa) of Calgary, AB. She will be greatly missed by her children and spouses; Andy Alessio (Marie-Jeanne), Mary Ferrarelli (Frank) and Dick Alessio (Hilpa) of Victoria, BC and John Alessio (Roxanne) of Calgary, AB. She will be remembered by her grandchildren; Rosalina Munro (Michael) and Domenic Ferrarelli of Victoria, BC, Danielle Leong (Alex) of Waterloo, ON, Katie Alessio of Nelson, BC, and her great grandsons, Carter and Massimo. Caterina will be sadly missed by her sisters and brothers; Serafina Gentile (Paolo), Maria Aiello (Francesco), Pasquale Durante, Tomaso Durante (Vittoria) of Calgary, AB, Antoniette Durante, Giuseppe Durante (Teresa), Filomena Olivito, Teresa Durante and Virginia Pedace (Gino) of San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy and her many friends and relatives. She was happiest when she had her family close by and loved to sit outside and watch the world go by. She will always be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts. We would like to sincerely thank Imelda, Esse and Lucy who were Caterina’s homecare support. Over the years they showed her remarkable compassion and care.

To all of the Alessio Family, and especially to Dick and Mary:

Losing your mother is like losing a part of yourself. Your childhood begins in her. She is safety, comfort, and love wrapped around you. As you grow, she is guidance and protection. As you mature, she is pride. And now as you grieve, she is right there beside you, just as she always was.

Time will help you. Eventually the sadness is replaced by warm memories of a wonderful woman and a deep awareness of the gifts you gave each other. Our hearts go out to you. Mary Jo and Bob Duggan
