Our beloved Mother Krystyna,

Krystyna was born in Eastern Poland on August 28, 1928. During WWII, she and her family were deported to Siberia, and escaped four years later to the Middle East, where they lived for five years. She came to Canada in 1949, where she met and married Adam, another Polish refugee. Together, they raised five children. Her courageous life is recounted in her autobiography “Don’t Forget to Laugh and Sing” (available at Victoria Public Library). She led a full life as Founding Member of White Eagle Association, Polish Senior’s Club, member of various choirs and the Catholic Women’s League. She shared her passion of poetry with the Poetry Lover’s Circle.

She is predeceased by her husband Adam, infant son John, eldest son Bob, and two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her sister Anna , her daughter Teresa, sons Frank, Andy and Mike, 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Krystyna “Loved God, and was thankful for his countless blessings”.

With sincere sadness and a profound sense of loss, our sympathies go out to Krystyna’s family. Krystyna was a wonderfully intuitive, intelligent, gentle woman. Her kindness knew no bounds and she was so proud of all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a wicked sense of humor and always a quiet way of imparting wisdom to the younger generation. She was a great part of our family’s history for many years and we feel truly privileged to have known and spent time with her.
May she be with the angels now, happy and at peace.

    Tears and Hugs,

Sending my sympathies to you all at this time. I went to school with Andy at Strawberry Vale elementary. She had a loss unimaginable long ago and had to raise four kids on her own. Such courage that must have been. She had a long life full with grandchildren and great grandchildren. So many Blessings in her life.

May God comfort you all at this time.

Sincerely, Sylvia Kirby ( nee Schoderbeck ).
