June 29, 1955 – November 30, 2015

The family of Christopher McDonald Adams is sad to announce his sudden passing on November 30, 2015 at the age of 60. His death was caused by a rare form of leukemia. Chris, as he was known to all, was born in Montreal. He was predeceased by his father, Dr. Robert McDonald Adams, and his mother, Gerda Caroline Adams.

His father was a federal civil servant, so he lived in many places including Brussels, San Francisco and Ottawa. Eventually he settled in Calgary where he attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and received his diploma in petroleum technology. During this time and for many years after, he was the announcer for the SAIT Trojans hockey team. For this effort, he was given the Al Bohonus Recognition Award for his special contribution to college sport in Alberta. After graduation Chris worked for the National Energy Board in Calgary for a number of years, and then about ten years ago, he moved to Victoria as an oil and gas specialist with the BC Ministry of Natural Gas Development and worked with them until his death.

Chris is survived by his sister Laura of Port Angeles, Washington, Aunt Lottie Efird of North Carolina, his Uncle and Aunt Paul and Velma Adams of Alberta and several cousins in British Columbia, Alberta, the East Coast and the United States. He leaves behind a multitude of dear, life-long friends.

The family wishes to thank the medical team at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their incredibly compassionate care. Although it was a shock to lose Chris so quickly their level of attention was outstanding.

A celebration of Chris’ life will be held on Saturday December 5, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at McCall’s Funeral Home, 1400 Vancouver Street, Victoria B.C.  Flowers are gratefully declined. Charitable donations in Chris’ memory may be made to the Leukemia Foundation of Canada.

Christopher touched so many lives with kindness and his presence will never be replaced.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  1. I lost touch with Chris when our relationship ended and I left Calgary back in 1984. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to you Laura and the rest of your family.

  2. We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of my cousin Chris. Although miles separated us, we got to know each other as teenagers when Chris and his dad would visit his Aunt Joan and Uncle “Avie”, and even stayed for a time. He was always kind and generous with his time to his younger cousin. Visits to San Francisco were also highlights. Chris was a great tour guide. We are so grateful to have had the chance to attend the Adams reunion this past summer. Who knew at that time, that time was so short. He was a gentle man, and wonderful brother. He will be missed. May he rest in peace. Laura, our thoughts are with you.

  3. My Prayers and thoughts are with you Laura, and your family in this very sad time.
