With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Christopher R. Loomer, MD, in Victoria BC, Canada on July 15, 2022, at the age of 74.
Chris was born in Saint John, NB on January 9, 1948, the only son of the late H. Avard Loomer and Irene S. Currie. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Loomer (née Martell), and their four children: Geoffrey (Lindsay), Robert (Erin), Karen (James), and Andrew (Courtney). Chris also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Nathaniel and Samuel Loomer, Isla and Sebastian Loomer, Luke and Elena Fraser, and Jensen Loomer. He will be missed by many relatives and friends.
Chris graduated from Saint John High School, going on to Dalhousie University for his BSc, followed by his MD in 1974. He practiced family medicine in Saint John for 8 years before returning to Dalhousie University to study Ophthalmology. The family relocated to Victoria BC in 1988 where Chris practiced Ophthalmology until 2001. He returned to Saint John and continued to practice until illness forced his retirement in 2005.
Despite health challenges, Chris always kept a positive outlook for the future. He enjoyed following professional golf, watching Green Bay Packers football, keeping his car meticulously clean, and joking with family and friends. He loved visits to Disney World and going on an occasional cruise. His most cherished times were spent with Mary, his children, and his grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 25 at 11:00 am at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC., V8Y 1B4

Dear Mary, Geoffrey, Robbie, Karen, and Andrew,
Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of Chris. My memories of Chris are as an immediate member of the Currie side of the family, my family doctor when I was a child, and as a bright and intelligent person with a great deep laugh often heard while teasing my father. Your memories and stories of Chris will see you through this difficult time. You are all in our thoughts.
Your East Coast Cousins, Erik and Marie-Christine Millett, Hampton, New Brunswick.

Our sincere condolences Mary to you and your family. Chris’ looks have not changed over the years. Please let me know at some point and time if you still live on Travino Lane. Our prayers go with you and the entire family.
Our sincere condolences to Mary, Geoffrey, Robert, Karen and Andrew and families. Chris will be remembered a gracious, intelligent and quick witted family member who, with Mary, kept in touch and visited over decades and distance. His innate perseverance came to the fore with an illness, leading to an early retirement, yet he continued to live his life to the fullest. May you treasure your many fond memories of him.
