With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Chung Mee Lee (May). She was predeceased by her husband Yut Chor (Russell) Lee and son Gordon Lee.
Born in Hong Kong, Chung Mee was the youngest of twelve siblings. She met and married Yut Chor in Hong Kong and together immigrated to Victoria, BC in 1954. They shared 55 devoted years and raised two sons, Wyman and Gordon.
Chung Mee and Yut Chor owned and operated Walls Food Market at Bay and Fernwood, a successful family-run grocery business from which they retired in 1988. They embraced the cruising lifestyle early on, and after Yut Chor’s passing in 2009, the family encouraged her to continue traveling. She cruised joyfully until 2019, always reserving a table for
one – accompanied by her husband’s portrait – so he could “join” her at dinner. She delighted in bringing home unique gifts from her travels to share with loved ones.
At home, Chung Mee enjoyed Chinese dramas, cooking for her family and being a devoted grandmother to her three granddaughters.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Wyman (Sandy); granddaughters, Janet (Mike), Stefanie (Eric), and Caitlin; great granddaughters, Natalie, Selena, and Aliyah and great grandson Julian. She will also be deeply missed by her brotherinlaw, Charles (Patricia); sistersinlaw, Yee Yook Poon (Bing Chor, deceased) and Margaret Yee (Ming, deceased) and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and friends.
A private family funeral service will be held.
Forever loved, never forgotten.
