Clifford McNaughton Rolfe – VE7 GMR

Became a silent key on March 8, 2010. Cliff was born on January 4, 1922 in Victoria. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret and sister, Thelma Ozard and several nieces and nephews. Cliff was a great advocate of and showed much kindness to animals and was a life member of the SPCA. In Cliff’s retirement years, he pursued the hobby of amateur radio. He enjoyed speaking with hams in remote areas of the world and from all walks of life. He also belonged for many years to the Victoria Men’s Garden Club and the Victoria Parkinson Association. Flowers are gracefully declined, however, donations in Cliff’s memory to the Victoria S.P.C.A., 3150 Napier Lane, Victoria, BC V8T 4V5 or the Victoria Parkinson’s Centre, 813 Darwin Avenue, Victoria, BC V8X 2X7 would be appreciated. The family also wishes to thank the care/social workers of Saanich Peninsula Hospital, The Lodge at Broadmead and doctors R.D. Nicoll and Dr. D.E. Bell.

Celebration of Life will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 3:00 pm with a reception to follow in the McCall’s Family Centre.

V8N 6J5 Hello Thelma: I came across the obituary concerning your brother Clifford and put it asside with the full intention of writing sooner. I believe that Ellsie, Douglas and I knew your family better than my older siblings. My memory of Cliff is much faded now except I do remember that his was a gentle sole.
I am the youngest of the George family and the only male still living. Elsie (90) and Margaret (92) are living in Nanaimo. There is no doubt Cliff lived a good life and will be missed by family and friends.
    Sincerely, Warren George

Will miss Uncle Cliff so much. Will always remember the wonderful times spent with him and my Aunty Margaret when I visited Canada in 1977 (with my mother and sister) and in 1994 (with my daughter Skye). He was one of the funniest, kindest men and my Aunty Margaret was so lucky to have been married to him. Till we meet again.

  • Catherine Rowley

With sadness I’ve leared of Cliff’s passing. When I was only 17 in 1961 I went from school to ‘the’ office. Cliff was my kind, funny and inspiring colleague. During these past almost 50 years we’ve connected a few times. Recently he tracked me down and we e-mailed. Then the e-mails stopped; now I know why. From all accounts Cliff did not let his challenges prevent him from engaging in his love of life. With kind regards to his wife and family; may happy memories speed the healing. Sincerely, Cathy Rowley

  • Bill Ozard

Margaret, Just learned of Cliff’s passing. It is a long time since we all worked together in the Surveyor of Taxes Office. I just wanted to sendy you my warm condolences. You lost a fine man who made a difference in the world. We’ve all moved on a long way since that time. I lost my husband, Charlie White, in late January, so know it is a big adjustment, but I also know you are up to it. My friend, Irene Pipes, told me your news. Warm regards to you and to your families, Darlene White
