October 30, 1927-March 11, 2012

Gran passed away at the age of 84 with dear loved ones by her side. She lived an independent life. She loved her family and was her grandchildren’s best cheerleader “Go Lellow!” She enjoyed travelling with her family and dutifully scraped the mustard, pickles and relish from their food all across North America. She had a ferocious love of BC’s natural beauty. She enjoyed music, singing and dancing. She loved to drive and loved her cars. She was creative with needlework, calligraphy, floral arranging, and gardening. She loved a good game of cribbage or scrabble. Gran wasn’t a fan of cats, disliked dogs, but loved birds. Whoot whoot.

Cora worked as a BC Tel Operator and enjoyed connecting people from all over the world. She met John Deighton while working at Johnnies Coffee Shop. After many drives home, they were married in 1951 and their family grew to include, Sandi (Bernie Linge) Laura (Lyn Lewis) Karen (Fred Topp) Timothy and Jeremy and grandchildren Courtney, Stefan and Heather Linge, Sarah Lewis and Catalina and Yukon Deighton.

Cora was predeceased by her parents John and Helena (Cook) Burdett, husband John Deighton and youngest son Jeremy Deighton, sisters Rene Stainsby, Molly Eckert, Audrey Hay and brother Les Burdett. She is survived by her sister Verna Marshall.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Arbutus Cottage at The Priory for their understanding and kind care. Gran will be missed and a Tea will be held in her honour on April 1st.

A kiss behind the ear and two ding-a-lings. Condolences may be offered below.
