Coralie “Myrtle” Melita Daggett (Culverwell) reunited with her husband and love of her life Nat. Our beautiful Mum, grandmother and friend left us, but she knew where she wanted to be. Matriarch of the Wellington Avenue Daggett’s, she was pre-deceased by her beloved daughter Karen 2004, lovingly cherished by children Lindy (John MacArthur), Judith Oldfield, Lara Rock (John), Nathaniel (Cyndee), Rose (Billy Carere), and Paul. Fondly remembered and loved by Grandchildren, Shane, Natalie, Jody, Jesse, Nathan, Dustin, Sheena, Jay, Denver, Maria, Nolan, Nicole, Josh, Jordan, Sarah and Sydney, Great Grandchildren, Chelsea, Devon, Brodie, Doryan, Hayley, Addison, Katie and Emma, Great Great Grandchildren Cooper and Skyler.

Mum was born in Priors Marston, near Stratford, England in 1919. At age 3, she left her beautiful English Manor ” Lyndale” in Bristol with family for a rugged 1920’s life in Salmon Arm, B.C. From all reports young Myrtle was, as she was at Mount St. Mary’s, the talk of the town. Stunningly attractive with her olive skin and black hair, she was an athlete – a competitive streak that would stay with her for life. Winning numerous sprint and high jump championships throughout the Okanagan, it appeared then that no one could catch her. Fortunately, Nat ran track in Oregon State. As a teenager Mum boarded at St Ann’s Academy in Kamloops, and forever held dear the guidance and love of The Sisters. Her faith was with her and gave her strength throughout her entire life. After high school Mum went into Nurses Training in Vancouver and worked at the Queen Alexandra Solarium in Mill Bay, while Dad was a Pilot in WWII. Mum loved her nursing years, caring for the children, but her greatest accomplishment was her family. Mum took great pride and felt great joy in her role as mother, grandmother and home maker, and she always delighted in visits from family…her movie stars and princes…she was proud of all our achievements and when life provided challenges she was all accepting.. Mum was our greatest fan! Mum’s home on Wellington and the farm in Salmon Arm were always so welcoming. Her Sunday night roast beef and Yorkshire dinners, apple pie, and cinnamon buns were famous. Mums creative nature and appreciation of beautiful things along with her good humour made every house a home. Mum had a saying: Friends are like flowers and they need to be nurtured. She had many long and loving friendships and leaves behind a garden of friends. She loved all animals, especially her little Lama and Cassie.

Mum had a beautiful intuitive and generous heart with limitless love and that love will be in our hearts forever. The Daggett Family wish to express their deep appreciation to all of the staff at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital for their loving care.

A private celebration of Mum’s life for family and her close friends will be held Saturday, July 20th at   2 p.m. at McCall’s Funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to S.P.C.A.

Please accept our condolences and sympathy on the passing of your Mother. Belle will miss their regular phone calls and will cherish the memories of all the wonderful times she and her husband Buzz (now deceased) had during the many years of their friendship. My mother, Belle, remembers the Airforce dances and parties that they went to together and all the Christmas Eves that we spent at your house.
Your Mother and I enjoyed many conversations and I will always miss her as I miss your father, Nat, to this day.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time. I have many memories of being part of the everyday life of the Daggett family….having my best friend in the world live just across the street from 79 Wellington where the Mulcahy’s lived. Always a smile and warm greetings from your Mom when she came to answer the door when I called to see Rose! The kettle would always be at the ready on the stove for a nice friendly pot of tea! On other occasions, I remember those famous cinnamon buns…I was very happy to taste one! I was fortunate enough to be invited for a few of those wonderful Sunday night dinners at your family’s home and will cherish the memory. An amazing person, I’m so glad to have had the privilege of knowing your Mom and all her great family. With much love, Tara & Ron Hilton & Ryan Mulcahy

We were saddened to learn of Myrtle’s passing. She was a wonderful woman who loved her family so much. That we always knew. As a teenager I saw her kindness for others and her great love for her family. We know she will be missed so much but always be with you.
    With deepest sympathy,
    Herb and Sheila Voaklander

These lovely words describe your beautiful Mum so well. Her heart was big enough for us all. After my Mother, Marjorie Mulcahy, passed, your Mum called me on each of my birthdays, “Because your Mother can’t.” Myrtle helped me through some difficult times with her words of love and support. For sure a very great lady has joined the ranks of those who have earned their wings. She always spoke to me of her beloved family. What a treasure she was… there for all who needed a kind and sage word. Bless her, bless you all. With the greatest love and our deepest sympathy, Maureen, Gerry, Dan & Rob Mellott
