MILLS, Cristin Courtney February 18, 1980 June 10, 2008 With great sadness the family of Cristin Mills announces her passing after a courageous 10 month battle with colon Cancer. Cristin is survived by her loving parents Terry and Sandra Mills, her brother Corbin, her husband Matthew Otoupal, her cherished daughter Avary Towle, her grandmothers Nita Mills and Helen Wells, as well as many loved aunts, uncles and cousins. Cristin was born in Victoria and spent her youth on the Peninsula attending McTavish/Sansbury Elementary, North Saanich Middle school and Parklands and Stelly’s High schools. One of Cristin’s greatest school adventures was a trekking trip to Mt. Everest in Nepal. She loved the outdoors, and was a veteran of the Juan de Fuca and West Coast Trails. As a youth Cristin enjoyed many years of softball with North Saanich / Sidney Little League and swam with Piranhas Swim Club. A long time employee at Victoria’s Holiday Inn, Cristin is remembered as always being vibrant and full of life. Cristin was a wonderful loving wife and mother, who would happily tell anyone that raising her daughter was her greatest achievement in life. Cristin will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. The family would like to thank everyone who supported Cristin through her illness. A special thanks to Auntie Berta and Mark for always being there. We gratefully acknowledge the wonderful care and compassion Cristin received from Dr. Fitzgerald, Dr. Porter, Dr. Naismith and the many doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at the hospitals, the Cancer Clinic and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cristin may be made to the Victoria Hospice Society or the BC Cancer Foundation who provided invaluable services in our time of need. A celebration of Cristin’s life will be held Monday, June 16, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Mary Winspear Centre, 2243 Beacon Avenue, Sidney. Reception to follow.
